I’ve been pondering so much this year as we celebrate 250 years of our great country. I think of my own family roots - who was alive 250 years ago and where were they? What did they have to overcome? I don’t quite have all the answers yet as I build my family tree and archive, except on one side of the family that has a complete tree back to 1500 or so. (That’s crazy to think about relatives alive when Columbus set foot here.)

I’m trying to comprehend the best way I can celebrate 250 years of my own heritage that would honor my families and their individual lives. What would that look like for you?

Perhaps, we need to just start with our story today and that of our parents, grandparents - first hand memories, stories, lessons, that will otherwise be lost. Maybe it’s a simple as celebrating our lives, be present and live meaningful lives, talk about the many blessings that came from our ancestors emigrating to the USA, and record our stories and lessons for the future.

What ideas do you have to celebrate and honor your family’s 250+ years?

I’ve been toying with an idea and would love your input.
Several years ago I had a group for the women I coached. I loved showing up for them doing lives every Monday morning, posting encouragement, etc. Then I took it OFF FB for various reasons, but not everyone wanted to have another app to check.

In my Photo Archaeology world, many people I talk to aren’t very active on FB, if at all, others are.

I would love to have more conversations with you, vs here on a public page that I haven’t been very active on recently (I am tired of the FB analytic game).

What would suit you?
A group here on FB - would you be active in it?
Go back to monthly Zoom open calls?
Should I post on my website blog to include videos, written articles, and photos?
Should I just stick to occasional emails and my quarterly magazine?

Where or what would you get the most value from? I’m open to ideas!

If you look closely at the framed FDR image you will see the outline where the photo on the left was placed to make the most of the mat of the FDR photo.

A client asked me to take photos out of the frames to scan and add to their Forever archive. I don’t know about you but I have often added photos on top of the previous photos. There were there frames that hid multiple past photos but this one really made me laugh - apparently it’s been done for generations look what was hiding behind this old family photo! 🤣
