'Mean Mugger' — Barracuda (Sphyraena)

Although they may look scary, these fish are mostly curious. I remember on this dive, this 4-footer kept following me, until I realized that my G-clip attached to my camera housing was reflecting the sunlight from the surface. I imagine 'Mr. Barracuda' thought there was a struggling fish next to me. This continued for about 10 minutes, allowing me to capture this portrait. I didn’t take my eyes off of this fish until I was of no more interest and swimming back onto the reef to look for food was a better option…
What are you doing if this fish were following you on a dive? 🤓

Across the plains of the African Continent to Botswana — ‘The Gem of Africa’ and its renowned Chobe National Park; home to an estimated 120,000 African Elephants; one of the largest concentrations in the world 🌍
In celebration of 🐘 — allow me share with you this and recall the vivid memories of my time exploring this amazing preserve and capturing the playful nature of these elephant parades. These amazing mammals displayed profound emotional bonds within their herd, expressed individual personality traits and playful attitudes that truly captivated me.

Memories of the ‘MV Tyrrel Bay’ shipwreck — this US built Guardian-class patrol boat was intentionally sunk for dive tourism in 2018. Originally donated by the U.S. and after years of services under the Royal Grenada Police Force Coast Guard, this patrol boat was deemed inoperable. Through both private and public partnership, the ‘Tyrrel Bay’ was carefully prepared, cleaned and sunk off the newly established Grand Anse Marine Protected Area.
Now resting at a maximum depth of ~22m at the stern, Grenada’s latest dive site allows for exciting wreck exploration of its ~33m long aluminium hull; with a completely opened interior to allow divers a chance to enjoy a full tour from the captain’s quarters to the engine room, through the galley and about the bridge.
🗣️ Fun Fact: This retired vessel shares a unique history as the little sister ship to Barbados’ — MV Trident Shipwreck
Drop a comment below👇🏾 if you have visited either of the these beautiful dive sites and can tell us what is the biggest difference you have notice 🤫

'Destructive Beauty' — the Red Lionfish (Pterois volitans)

Over the past year or so, I've noticed fewer of these invasive species on the diving in the Southern Caribbean, but does that mean the significant issues posed by these venomous and invasive species are being mitigated 🤔
Are they adapting to human activities and going deeper? Are other reef species adapting and hunting these ? Or do we need to look more closely, cause clearly I am missing something?

Posing with ‘The Ellion Shipwreck’ — a former Colombian drug-smuggling boat that was seized by local authorities and intentionally sank in Carlisle Bay Marine Park in 1996 as an to promote dive tourism. Today, this popular dive site sitting at a depth ~16m/55ft offering swim-throughs for divers with and has an air pocket in the bow big enough for a conversation 🌊
This 🧜🏻‍♂️ poses at Ellion’s bow deep in thought with arms crossed. The thought of being at home — comfortable beneath the might of the is truly a humbling moment for an to capture!
Moments like these are rare — but to reflect on them and know that we record moments in time that become part of history; whether personal or shared is why I enjoy this craft so much. Forever grateful for what life continues to offer 💙

The world’s first Underwater Sculpture Park — initially installed in 2006 by British Sculpture Jason deCaires Taylor in Grenada. A National Geographic World Wonder, ‘Molinere Bay Underwater Sculpture Park’ in Grenada is must visit destination for any ocean and marine enthusiasts.
Nestled within the Molinere Beauséjour Marine Protected Area, divers and snorkelers can explore the now expanded park with various sculptures from artists both local and international — and learn about the rich history of this beautiful Caribbean island.
What started as a effort to protect the surrounding fragile reefs after multiple catastrophic hurricanes in the early 2000’s — this experience is now a staple of the Spice Isle’s charm, and a celebration of its cultural heritage.
I have floated through this gallery on countless occasion taking photo after photo ✨ — watching the sun and moon light dance across coral-crusted faces and structures witnessing the evolution of nature herself.
Sharing this evolution of the will always be my joy 💙

Inside the Bajan Queen — nestled within the Marine Park of Carlisle Bay is a highlight of any trip to the beautiful island of Barbados.
According to Bajan Marine Biologist Andre Miller, this vessel was once Barbados’ only tug boat — later refitted as a famous party cruiser. Since her sinking in 2002, this queen can brag that she has seen more ‘passengers’ as a shipwreck than a floating vessel; truly one of the most popular wrecks with locals and visitors alike.
Now resting at a comfortable depth of 12m/40ft — these enjoy an adventurous swim through her once bustling engine room and hallways filled with an abundance of and growth.
