Do you believe in the flying spaghetti monster?
I’ve never got a lightning photo in March before! Crazy how we’ve had some monsoon like storms in the last couple days following the early season record heatwave. This year we could be in for a pretty wild ride with the weather patterns.! I for one, am excited! I hope we get some crazy storms this year!

It seems I don’t get much time these days to get out in nature or do some photography. Just grinding away the hours working. Working towards a goal of having a nice little home and a food forest of trees. I envision a simple minimalistic lifestyle that offers some self sustainability, like growing my own food and having a well on my property, maybe some chickens. And the ability to transition into more creative ways to earn a living. The systems that we are used to are going to continue crumbling over the next several years so I’m working hard now so hopefully I can come out the other side a little bit more self sustainable. We are in for a wild ride but im very optimistic. And there are so many good things to focus on in the world, not only the negative ones. Plus we are only here for a short while before we’re DEAD so might as well follow your passions, love deeply and go stroll amongst the flowers.

The other day, I broke a couple of my resolutions for this year, which was to not argue with people online , and to not care about the opinions of crazy people.
During said conversation I was told that I should go back to the woods and just keep posting pictures of nature because I was bad at debate and had nothing of value to contribute to the broader conversation of what’s going on right now ( which is not true, I am very good at debate, and my opinion is obviously one of the best in the world)
But regardless, I don’t wanna spend my time “debating“ I’ll leave that to others, I’ll let them contribute in meaningful ways by propping up their opinions online and I’ll just go back to “the woods” and keep posting nature photos and being in awe of the beautiful and great things of this world with hope for a greater future.
Like these blue hour photos of Brittlebush. I’ve always been attracted to this plant. And this year they’re blooming about a month earlier than normal thanks to all the rain and the extra warm weather.

It was fun to hike out into finger rock trail the other day! First time I grabbed my camera and just flowed with the creativity in a while. The views and the lighting were spectacular! and it was the farthest I had ever gone up that trail so the newness of it I think helped inspire the creativity. It’s invigorating to get out and have new experiences!

Sunlight through the wildfire smoke.
The light still shines through the chaos of destruction.
Sometimes it makes for an even more dramatic scene.
It’s important to remember to keep looking for the light in even the darkest moments, for the storm will pass, the fire will die out, the sun will rise again.
I love the dramatic mountains of the eastern Sierra! They make our Arizona mountains feel small.

A little last minute canyoneering ! It’s been years since I went up this canyon. So nice to see all this water. The Santa Catalina Mountains are a super unique ecosystem!

Happy New Year! 🎆
I didnt spend as much time on photography in 2025 as previous years. There were definitely some incredible moments though I was glad I was able to capture, and I suppose those are the type I feel inspired to go after. Things or events out of the ordinary.
I feel the draw of social media waning, and the algorithms and tactics needed for high engagement to be less and less fulfilling, where an iPhone video that took 30 seconds to make can go viral but a well planned photograph with much time invested can fall like a tree in the forest with no one to hear the sound.
I’ll keep getting out there to capture those awe inspiring moments that the universe blesses us with, but life has other demands that require time and energy that produce the sweetest of fruits. Fruits not so easily visible by others that can only be enjoyed and not shared with the world. And that is where the deepest richness and fulfillment comes from. Social media is just a game, games can be fun though, for sure.
The new year is a chance at starting over! An opportunity for a mental reset! But really that can happen any day, not just on January 1st.
Here’s a slide of some of my favorite shots from 2025
Cheers to the best year , 2026 ✌️
