After a little unintentional time away from this space, it feels only right to come back with a day like this.

J + A’s quiet fall micro-wedding at filled with so much intention. Red silk, tea poured for family, laughter echoing through small moments, and traditions that have been carried through generations — all woven beautifully into a modern celebration of two people starting their life together.

These are the kinds of days that remind me why I love documenting weddings. The meaningful in-between moments, the way cultures and families come together, the softness of autumn light and air.

Captured on a mix of film and digital — because some stories deserve both the nostalgia and the clarity.

T & N brought us along from the desert to document their wedding day in Maui, celebrating with their closest family and friends. K & M planned the most intimate, heart-led celebration tucked along the Mogollon Rim—where the air smells like pine, laughter echoes through the trees, and every detail felt intentional and them. It always makes me pause when someone says “just a courthouse elopement.”
Because there’s nothing “just” about it. ✨

Courthouse weddings hold the same weight, the same vows, the same life-changing promises as any other wedding day. The walls may be simpler, the guest list shorter, but the love? The emotions? The significance? All still beautifully powerful.

Whether it’s a grand ballroom celebration or two people saying “I do” in front of a judge, every love story deserves to be celebrated and remembered.

Courthouse elopements are intimate, intentional, and so full of meaning; and documenting them is one of my favorite things as a photographer.

One of my favorite things as a photographer is getting to sneak you two away to a different location after your wedding ceremony for romantic bridal portraits if timeline allows. Whether it’s the desert, the mountains, or downtown streets—stepping away from the venue to soak in that just-married feeling makes for some of the most emotional, meaningful photos.

Lia + James said yes in the heart of Phoenix, just the two of them and the city skyline. A courthouse elopement that felt more honest, more them, than anything traditional ever could.
