American white pelicans along the Mississippi River. Saw many pods of pelicans throughout the lake congregating, preening, and feeding. Enjoyed the trails and birdwatching!
This is one of my favorite osprey in-flight captures! The lighting, frozen motion, and wingspan. We've got about a month before the ospreys fly south. They've been very actively feeding for the long tarvel south.
Belted kingfisher in flight, chittering by. One of the most challenging birds for me to capture in flight, aside from swallows. Got lucky with this kingfisher's flight path right alongside me. Photographed from the kayak.
This green heron was patiently standing on a log, watching for fish to pass by. Every 5 to 10 minutes, it would attempt to catch a fish, succeeding about 80% of the time. Photographed from the kayak.
