A couple hours of "playing" in post-processing has demonstrated one thing to me: A "van Gogh" I am decidedly NOT. :-)

My post-impressionist "take" made from an photographic image I made during daylight, standing in the spot where Vincent van Gogh painted his famous "Starry Night over the Rhone."

The 13th Century St. Severin Church (the official "paris church" of the University of Paris which was founded in 1215) stands in the shadow of its contemporary, Notre Dame Cathedral just across to the mainland from the Île de la Cité. By no means, however, does it stand in its figurative shadow. Following a fire in the 15th century, it underwent extensive rebuilding and remodeling, in what is known as (French) "Flamboyant Gothic" style. The exterior is impressive with its Gothic architecture, including prominent flying buttresses. But once again, it was the interior of this church that caught my attention.

When you approach the St. Sauveur Cathedral in Aix-en-Provence in Mediterranean Coastal France, it looks a lot like just another one of those somewhat plain Gothic Cathedrals. But when you step inside, you will find the interior is pretty special. One of my favorite images from that trip was the baptistery inside this church. It is said that the columns seen around the font were probably columns from an ancient Roman Temple that once stood on the same site.
