What inspires you? Why do you do what you do?

When I originally picked up a camera, I wanted to be a youtuber. Somewhere along the way I found my love for photography. It has been 10 years since that moment! That is so crazy to think about. Since then I have formulated HUNDREDS of excuses as to why I can't invest in myself for my business. Some of those excuses were "I don't understand my settings" "what if they don't like my photos" "how do I price fairly" "I don't understand lighting"... and so many more. I have WASTED🗑 so much time with these excuses but I have also challenged myself to learn more and grow more in my craft and in doing so, I have done different kinds of photos. I have done senior photos, weddings, headshots, animals, bands, landscape, ect.

Don't hesitate to start your business and embrace your talents. Don't do anything for free, respect your need for growth and boundaries. Not everyone is going to love everything you do and THAT'S OKAY! ❤️📸👑

Well, that is a wrap for Valentine Mini Shoot Sessions! Don't worry if you missed out because there will be plenty of mini sessions in the future. Be on the lookout for more mini shoot announcements. You won't want to miss the next one.

People ask me how I choose my props. There are a few things I keep in mind when deciding on photoshoot props and the most important things are.. what do I already have and what would make the most sense to tell full stories in these sessions. If I get inspired by a prop that I see in other photographer posts or inspiration blogs and I don't have it then I scout local thrift stores/boutiques for the best finds that closely relate to my theme. I choose these props for variety and they aren't always necessary for my client and that is okay, too!

What are mini sessions? Mini sessions are a taste of what a photographer has to offer. It is the perfect time to establish a long lasting relationship or maybe discover that a photographer may not be the style you're looking for. I say this because it isn't a huge time commitment or price tag for the clients and who doesn't love a good theme.

Photographers typically do mini sessions because there is a lot of creativity that goes into preparing and planning them. For example, I knew I wanted to do some fun theme for Valentines Day so I went to some local shops and found some amazing finds that I could incorporate into these sessions. Like the dyed roses that were made locally and sold at Owls Nest.

This is the last week to book for Valentines mini shoots, I have opened up a couple more spots for those who decide that they don't want to miss out!

Having toddlers in the studio is such a fun challenge. You can't do traditional posing with them, especially when they only know a few words. So what do you do? You let them play and be themselves and that is when you get the best photos of your little ones, bring their favorite toy or shaker. I always say it just takes a little patience and maybe a snack 😉.

Don't forget to book the Valentines session before it is too late!
