My beautiful, but a little crazy, pair of Cardinals. We have a love/hate relationship. I love their beautiful color and song, but hate the constant tapping on my window, all day long.

They're BACK! Spring has sprung. Saw my first flock of Robins today in my yard. Also the first Purple Finch of the season. Happy Spring!

Check this new bird in my sites. Not super common, and only here for the winter. It's summer home is Alaska and northern Canada. The Northern Shrike is not as sweet as it looks. The Shrike feeds on other small birds and rodents. I don't mind the rodent part, but it will kill many smaller birds, and kills more than it can eat. After the kill, it impales, and hangs the bodies on branches and any sharp objects it can find to save for later consumption. They like barbed wire fencing. I was excited to see something new, but not this brutal killer! When I saw the blood on it's underbelly, I thought maybe it was injured, but no, just proof it's been killing something.

Had a young woodpecker, loudly begging for food, and it's mama at my feeder. Love this time of year when the babies come out to my feeders!
