With permission, it is with an extremely heavy heart that I now share the passing of my dear client Andru Joshua Love Nowakowski. No amount of words can express how saddened I am for his family and how incredibly missed he will be.
I had the pleasure of meeting Andru in 2018 and have had the honor of being his photographer over the years. If you have a moment to read the beautiful words that have been written about his life, you will find just a small piece of what an amazing person he was. Although my time with him was really just during sessions, there are some things that will forever stand out to me.
Andru was silly. Like I mean really really funny. The kind of funny that makes you have to pause to try and breathe. As a photographer, it's usually part of my job to try and get younger men to smile, but Andru was the one who always had us laughing behind the camera. He had this confidence about him that was charming but never rude. He was extremely respectful and polite. Always trusted my work, gave compliments, and thanked me each and every time. He said hello to strangers that walked by. He was very goal oriented, and we often talked about what his next plans were. He was patient. He was kind. He loved his family very much, but I could tell he especially loved his mom, Sarah who is the most incredible person. I remember leaving our time together thinking how cool it was that a young boy and eventually a young man would hype his mother up the way he did. Their connection was very cool to see, and it pains me that I won't be able to see that anymore. Those memories will carry forward in my heart though, my prayers will continue for Sarah for the loss of her son along with the rest of his family, and his photos will remain here as long as they are able.
Rest easy, Andru
