Mac + Tiger.

This session was about more than getting them both to look at the camera—it was about capturing the connection between them. Add a stormy Arizona backdrop, and everything came together.

Which photograph from the set is your favorite?

I caught myself confusing preparation with progress.

I was researching businesses, building the tracker and refining the plan—but I still hadn’t written the pitches. Planning matters, but eventually the next step has to feel uncomfortable.

So I closed the extra research tabs and started writing the emails.

Productive doesn’t always mean progress.

Same car. Same location. Ten different focal lengths.

I photographed my WRX at 24, 35, 50, 70, 100, 135, 200, 400 and 600mm. I moved farther back each time to keep the car approximately the same size.

The focal length maintained the framing, but changing my camera position completely changed the relationship between the car and the background.

Which focal length gives you the best result?

Behind every polished video is a collection of clips where I completely forget how to speak.

I created a cinematic commercial for the ROG Xbox Ally C

No client. No crew. Just a home studio, a simple paper sweep and an idea I wanted to bring to life.

The original plan for this week wasn’t coming together.
I couldn’t lock in a model, the car I wanted to film wasn’t available, and my work schedule didn’t leave enough room to force the shoot without rushing it.
So I pivoted.
I took a product I already owned and challenged myself to create a clean ROG Ally X commercial at home.
Sometimes staying consistent doesn’t mean sticking to the original plan. It means knowing when to create a better one.
The full process goes live Thursday on YouTube.

You don’t need a perfect filming location to create a clean product setup.
This is my regular office, but a five-foot paper roll allowed me to hide the busy background and create a seamless paper sweep in the same space.
Same room. Completely different result.

The real question isn’t whether the Sony a7 V is impressive.
It’s whether I would trust it when a client is paying me and the moment can’t be repeated. After testing its autofocus, burst shooting, Pre-Capture, 4K120, battery life, and handling at the drag strip, here’s my answer.

Smoke is where camera autofocus gets dicey.
I tested whether the Sony a7 V could stay locked on a drag car through burnout smoke, track workers, and competing vehicles. I included the misses—not just the perfect hero frames.
