This photo shoot in Buckeye posed two challenges: it was a record breaking day (111 degrees) and the sunflowers were still pretty short and sparse. But I love a photography related challenge and quickly decided to try 2 different things: 1 - Sierra (pictured here) or I had to be low to the ground to include the flowers in the best way or 2 - we had to make the sun and blue sky a big part of the image.
Sierra works with horses and told me she was used to the heat. I was grateful for that because I was feeling pretty demanding for all I was asking her to do - a lot of running and twirling back and forth between the flowers.
A month later I went out to this field and the sunflowers were growing (thick as thieves) and there was rain, hail, a rainbow, and glowy pink orange clouds as the sun came out right before it got dark.
I love this location and I am thankful for the farmer who rents it out to photographers. It’s open all October until November 2nd. I am doing shoots there on October 25 and November 2nd. I will put a link to those sessions in the comments.
