This is a photo of my grandmother that my Aunt/godmother recently shared. My grandma never knew me. I never knew her. But because of that one image I know her smile, I know her presence, I know something true about where I came from.
My grandma did not plan a session. She did not pick an outfit or worry about the light. Someone just captured her and because they did, she is still here in a way that words never could have made possible.
That photograph is her legacy. It is proof that she existed, that she mattered, that her life was real and full and worth remembering. And even though my mom was too young to remember her mom, her mom still lives on.
That is what I think about every single time I pick up my camera.
My clients are not just booking a photo session. They are creating the image that their daughter pulls out of a box thirty years from now. The one their grandchildren study trying to understand where they came from. The one that makes someone who never met them feel like they already know them.
I take that seriously. Every single time.
If you have been putting off booking because life is busy or the timing is not perfect, I want you to know that the timing will never be perfect. But the photos will be. And they will outlive everything. Let's capture these moments now.
