I love welcoming the juncos back to my yard in the autumn. This guy has just come from the feeder, and is perhaps wondering if one tree away from my cat is safe enough! He's sitting in my old, white lilac tree, with fall colors blurred into the background.

I love autumn, and although the Pacific Northwest is not known for its fall color, we do have some areas of beautiful red and yellow leaves. These are from the vine maple tree in my backyard. Inside is a quote about October from lM Montgomery.

I love welcoming the juncos back to my yard in the fall! This guy appears to be judging whether he's far enough from my cat to relax and eat his seed from the feeder. The card is blank so that you can use it to write a note, and because I couldn't think of anything clever to say inside. Let me know if you have ideas!

This Halloween cat with the piercing green eyes is Lily. She's really a tuxedo cat, but here you can't see her white parts, except for those beautiful white eyebrow whiskers. She's watching to make sure your Trick-or-Treats are bountiful.

The Dahlia Garden at Pt. Defiance Park in Tacoma, WA is sooooo beautiful this month! And the bees were busy.

I love late summer at the Point Defiance Dahlia Gardens in Tacoma, WA. The bees were all over the gorgeous flowers. Here a bumble bee and a honey bee are sharing the source of nourishment. Neither had any time or attention to spare for me and my camera.

Every October I get together with my nephew and his family to carve pumpkins. This one is so cheerful, it doesn’t seem to accomplish the scary Halloween atmosphere usually desired at this time of year. Look a bit closer. . .

Hey, the Great Pumpkin will be here sooner than you think! Just hope he stays away from my nephew's cat. . .

This black cat is Mickey. He has a taste for fresh pumpkin. Every fall when we carve Jack-o-Lanterns he is right there to help clean the inside. Sometimes he sticks his whole head inside for those luscious bits almost out of reach. It cracks me up every time.
