Badlands Part 2
Eventually the skies cleared and the rain moved away. Finally, we had some sunlight to bring out the texture in the rock formations. Light and shadow do some wonderful things around craggy rocks and mountains!

I've been back from South Dakota now for just over two weeks and this is the first opportunity I've had to post any images from the trip. Most of the first three days or so in the Badlands NP were cloudy and rainy but the soft light and wet conditions were wonderful for bringing out the colors of the landscapes. Most times when faced with featureless white skies I do my best to angle the camera down or do a little cropping in post to eliminate that sky as much as possible.

I'll be leading an Intermediate Adobe Lightroom Classic class on Saturday, June 6th. Class will run from 9am until 5pm with an hour break for lunch. The Intermediate Lightroom Classic class picks up where the Intro class ends. We'll cover a variety of topics including setting up the interface for better workspace optimization, Metadata presets and advanced import tips, using star ratings and color labels and filtering for them, collections, HDR blending, panorama stitching, and more. This class is ideal for anyone who has a working knowledge of Adobe Lightroom Classic or anyone who has taken our Introduction to Adobe Lightroom Classic class.This class will run from 9am until 5pm with an hour break for lunch.

In just a couple of days I leave for a 10 day trip to Badlands National Park in South Dakota with three very good friends of mine. We'll be hosting an Introduction to Digital Photography coming up on Saturday, May 30th. If you have a new camera or just need a refresher on how to use your current camera, this is the class for you. We'll cover all the basics such as aperture, shutter speed and ISO, what they are and how to use them. Milky Way over Folly Beach last Friday night/Saturday morning. The foreground is a single exposure processed in Lightroom Classic. The sky is 10 exposures stacked in Sequator and processed in Lightroom Classic. The two images were blended in Photoshop. We'll be hosting a Milky Way Photography workshop coming up on September 11 & 12, 2026. This is a three part workshop where we'll spend Friday afternoon in the classroom learning about equipment and techniques to photograph the Milky Way and night skies in general. We'll cover shooting pinpoint stars, star trails and then expand on those techniques to learn how to photograph the Moon, comets and meteors and more. After dinner as a group we'll head out to a local location to photograph sunset and the Milky way and the night sky. Saturday morning we'll reconvene in the classroom to learn how to process the images using Lightroom (Classic or cloud) and Photoshop.
