There are entire little worlds we walk past without ever noticing.

A spiderweb covered in morning dew becomes something completely different when you stop and look closely — hundreds of tiny droplets suspended on threads we can barely see.

Sometimes the smallest things are the ones that make me stop the longest.

What’s something tiny you’ve noticed lately that made you stop and look twice?

🦌 **Wild Neighbors**

I was pregnant with Calli when I took this photograph.

I was walking along, softly singing *I Can Sing a Rainbow* to her, when suddenly this little fawn popped its head up from the grass.

I'm pretty sure its mama had told it to stay hidden, because just look at that face.

*"Oh no. Now I'm in trouble."* 😂🦌

After the fawn ran away, I said to Calli,

**"Did you see that? It was a baby, like you."**

All these years later, I still remember that little moment so clearly. Two babies crossed paths that day—one hidden in the grass, and one I hadn't even met yet. ❤️

Which Do You Prefer? 💚

The same dragonfly.

The same moment.

Two completely different edits.

One brings out every tiny detail—the delicate wings, vibrant colors, and textures.

The other is softer and more painterly, capturing the peaceful feeling I remember as I watched this little hunter pause among the coneflowers.

Photography is funny that way. Sometimes there isn't a single "right" edit—just different ways of telling the same story.

So now it's your turn...

🅰️ The detailed edit

or

🅱️ The softer edit

Tell me which you prefer—and why. I'd love to hear what draws you to one over the other.

People may stop for the photograph. They stay for the story.

When I created this photograph, I wasn't really looking at the leaves.

I was looking beyond them.

The fallen leaves rested on the surface of a puddle, and reflected in that puddle was the tree they had once belonged to.

Standing there, it reminded me that seasons change. We change.

We grow, leave things behind, and move into new chapters of life.

But it's important to remember where we started.

Sometimes looking back helps us see how far we've come.

Gus-Gus went shopping for the first time yesterday.

I’m not entirely sure he understood the purpose of the trip.

But he was very interested in quality control, customer service, inventory management, and making sure everyone in the store noticed him.

I think he may be angling for a promotion.

🐾❤️
For those who don’t know, we adopted Gus-Gus from the Adair County Humane Society. He was intended to be Calli’s dog, and he had already bonded with her before we even got home! He’s fitting in wonderfully.

This little dragonfly changed everything for me. 🌿

A Halloween Pennant.

This was the first dragonfly photo that truly hooked me on macro and wildlife photography. It even went on to win a ribbon at our local county fair.

But more importantly, it changed the way I saw the world.

I became fascinated not just with photographing critters… but learning them. Their behaviors, their habitats, their differences, even the tiny details most people overlook.

When I showed this photo to my mother-in-law years ago, she asked:
“Why did you make the background green?”

I told her:
“I didn’t. God did.” 🧡

That soft green background was simply the natural bokeh from the grass and weeds behind the dragonfly — one of the first times I truly understood how much beauty nature creates all on its own.

Still one of the most important photos I’ve ever taken.

Years ago, I spotted these raccoons and took off down the road with my camera like a woman on a mission. 🦝

When they disappeared into the ditch, I knew they would either go into the culvert pipe… or climb the tree. Thankfully for me, they chose the tree.

Right in the middle of photographing them, my phone rang. It was my step-daughter. We talked for a bit before she finally asked what I was doing.

I told her:
“Probably taking some once-in-a-lifetime shots!”

There was a pause… then she replied:
“Well then what the heck are you talking to me for, Dork???” 😂

…and hung up on me.

When I got home, I showed the photo to her dad, who was now on the phone with her again. I heard her yelling through the phone:
“Yeah, the dummy answered the phone while she was photographing them!”

Honestly… she wasn’t wrong. 🌿

Still one of my favorite wildlife memories — and one of my favorite photos I’ve ever captured.

May memory 🌿🐸

I was busy photographing this tiny tree frog peeking up through the deck boards when suddenly two little eyes appeared behind it…

…and I realized Calli had been watching too 😊

One of my favorite things about photography has always been the unexpected moments happening around the photo you thought you were taking.

Since everyone seemed to love Calli’s new shed babies yesterday… 😊🐾

Meet:
Mo-Mo,
Socks,
and Bob(cat).

Tiny paws.
Tiny meows.
Tiny chaos.

I’m pretty sure they already own the shed.

Well… I guess we have kittens now 😊🐾
