It’s hard to put into words what this season meant.
The scoreboard showed an 8-9 overtime loss to Somers in the Class S State Championship game. But anyone who followed this team all season knows that one score could never tell the story of what these young men accomplished.
Three years ago, this program finished 0-15.
This year, they finished 18-2, captured the first NCCC Championship in program history, and earned a spot in the Class S State Championship game.
That kind of transformation doesn’t happen overnight.
It’s built through early mornings, long practices, sacrifices that nobody sees, and a group of young men who never stopped believing in each other.
And in the final game of the season, they showed exactly who they were.
Down by two goals with just over two minutes remaining, they refused to quit. They dug deeper. They fought harder. They found a way to tie the game and force overtime in less than a minute. It was the kind of moment that every player, coach, parent, and fan in attendance will remember for the rest of their lives.
Those are the moments that become stories.
Those are the moments that become memories.
Those are the moments dreams are made of.
As a photographer, I’ve had the privilege of covering a lot of games and a lot of teams. But this season was different.
This group gave me memories I’ll never forget, and I’m incredibly grateful to have been trusted to document their journey.
Thank you to every player who left everything they had on the field.
Thank you to the families who supported them every step of the way.
Thank you to the entire Suffield lacrosse community for welcoming me in and allowing me to become a small part of this journey. The support, pride, and passion surrounding this program are truly special, and I’m grateful to have had the opportunity to tell this team’s story through my lens.
And a special thank you to Coach Rayce Bianchi for welcoming me into the program and trusting me with the responsibility of documenting this journey. I’m grateful to have had a front-row seat to witness one of the most memorable seasons in program history.
The final chapter didn’t end the way anyone hoped.
But championships alone don’t define a legacy.
Character does.
Heart does.
Brotherhood does.
And this team had all three.
Years from now, the final score will fade.
The memories won’t.
From 0-15 to 18-2.
From rebuilding to history-making.
From doubted to unforgettable.
Thank you, Wildcats. What a season.
