As we left Deer Isle on Sunday, I stopped and climbed down the rocks to catch this sailboat sailing under the Deer Isle Bridge. It was such a hot, but gorgeous day!

I’ve seen this field of purple loosestrife for over a decade now as I was driving to or from my mother’s house. There has never been a nice sky one time as I drove by, so I never stopped, but I always held out fond hope. On Sunday, finally, we had epic cumulus clouds hanging overhead!

We spent the weekend in Deer Isle, Maine this past weekend taking care of my mother’s dog. I did get a few opportunities to take some pictures, which I was thrilled with, as I very recently upgraded to a new dSLR, the Nikon Z7ii!

Hello everyone! Weather and travel have conspired to not allow me much time for photography the past couple of weeks! But after a day of heavy rains yesterday, the skies cleared just around dinner time and I decided to test out my brand new Nikon Z7ii body out! This was one of the very first photographs I took—there were rainbows EVERYWHERE as I was driving over, it seemed. I first headed to Portland Head Light, but for some annoying reason, they chose to close the park half an hour before sunset! The vertical image I posted the other day was using my long lens from a fairly long distance away to show the crescent moon as large as possible. This is a wide angle shot, taken more close to the boats, which shows the moon the way it looked to the naked eye at that point. The colors were just amazing. You can find this here:

Two boat sunset last night--we arrived at Ferry Beach JUST at sunset, so missed the actual star going down thing, but wow, it was a helluva sky!!!
