Golden Hour : 'In photography, the golden hour is the period of daytime shortly after sunrise or before sunset'
Please understand when I try to schedule you the hour the sun rises or sets its not because I enjoy being up early or working late, I promise you that is not the reason at all! I do in fact enjoy sleep.
While I totally get having children on a schedule is important, and my shooting times aren't ideal for all children, capturing your moments at an appropriate time to get amazing results is the only way I roll.
Please note the subject below, This is the same child, the same day in the same location. The image on the left is mid day (not during golden hour) as you can see he is:
- Grumpy
-Hot
-Is covered in harsh light
-Is covered in harsh shadows (I like to call them racoon eyes)
- His skin is blown out
-this image is a nightmare
Now please view the image on the right, during golden hour:
-Happy
-Not hot
-Not covered in harsh light or shadows
-Surrounded by magical golden light
-This image is not a nightmare
-Swoon... ❤
I hope this visual helps you understand how important time & location are in capturing your memories & getting the best results!
Some tips if you're unsure about a photographer who only shoots golden hour:
-Try swapping nap times, make them earlier/later so child can adjust
-Bring bribery (treats make everything better!)
-If its absolutely not possible to switch your child's sleep schedule book in the fall! The sun sets way earlier!
