🎨 Call for Artists! We need your voice!

"Hands That Build, Roots in Motion", the 2nd edition of our exhibition, is open to artists like you.

This is a space to honor the work that has sustained our communities for generations: work in the fields, in construction, caring for lives in hospitals, teaching in classrooms, weaving networks of support. It's about honoring the past and celebrating what we continue to build today.

We're looking for:
📸 Photography | 🎨 Painting | 🗿 Sculpture | 🧵 Textiles | 🏺 Ceramics and more
🧒 Special section for children and youth

Who can participate? Everyone. Professional artists, emerging artists, self-taught artists, students, kids. If you have a story, you have a place here.

Most of our family and friends are in La Güaira, our hometown, so we will be keeping a close eye on them and their well-being. Last night, no language was needed. We only had to let ourselves listen and feel everything The Garifuna Collective The Garifuna Collective gave us on stage.

It was an immense honor to photograph these stars who, with every song, preserve and share our Caribbean, Indigenous, and African roots.

🥹 Having their world tour stop in our small town is something I won’t forget.

Festival season has arrived in State College, and what a beautiful way to begin it. The 4th Annual APIDA Festival was a vibrant display of color, culture, and community that celebrated the richness of Asian, Pacific Islander, and Desi identities. Spectacular performers took the stage, magnificent local artists showcased their work, and the energy was infectious. Most importantly, the exceptional dedication and participation of student organizers and attendees made the day truly unforgettable and a testament to what we can create when we come together.

El Pacífico volvió a State College. Nidia Góngora trajo la marimba para reventar, trajo voces nuestras, trajo ese calorcito de hogar que no se puede empacar en una maleta. No fue solo un concierto. Fue una inmersión. Fue escuchar nuestra riqueza cultural en vivo, en directo, en las manos de alguien que sabe exactamente qué está haciendo.

Todo junto con Dilemastronauta y su cumbia electrónica. La tradición y el futuro chocando en la pista de baile como debe ser.

Esto es lo que sucede cuando traemos la cultura a donde estamos. Cuando nos negamos a dejarla en el pasado. Cuando decidimos que nuestra música, nuestras voces, nuestra marimba merecen estar aquí también.
