I was at the Photo Manager Conference where Heather spoke last year and am now a Certified Privacy Advocate as a result. Heather has been in Cyber-Security her whole career, including at the CIA. There is a LOT of good info in this recording. I would love to hear your comments and questions below.

An anthropologist proposed a game to children in an African tribe. He placed a basket of fruit near a tree and told the children that whoever reached it first would win the sweet fruits.
When he signaled them to run, they took each other's hands and ran together, then sat down together to enjoy their treats. He asked why they had run as a group when one could have had all the fruit for themselves. They replied, "Ubuntu, how can one of us be happy if all the others are sad?"
In their culture, "Ubuntu" means "I am because we are." This tribe understands a secret of happiness that many societies claiming to be civilized have lost. 💖

This week, I had the honor of speaking to my networking group about saving memories by digitizing photos and outdated VHS tapes, highlighting the urgency due to the Colorado fires and East Coast hurricanes, and the value of leaving our stories for future generations.

In March, FB and IG shut down for a day and people were freaking about being able to get to their photos.

Yesterday posts have been removed for FB. Most of them for what seems like no apparent reason. It appears to be a new AI bot or programing that is removed thousands of posts even though there is no violation. Even posts that said Happy Easter & Happy Easter were removed for violations. At the same time, FB is telling me that my groups and page are good to go and not violating and community standards. 🤦‍♀️

And for what it's worth, this is exactly why you do not want to "save" your photos on Facebook or any social media or temporary storage. Those pictures can be deleted for any sort of reason, including a mistaken one.

FOREVER for the Win. Facebook for the loss.

Just in case you thought you were going crazy...

Many social media websites were down earlier today. You had not been hacked - though it sure felt like it since I was logged out, couldn't reset my password and couldn't get any feeds on IG -Other platforms may have been down too.

This website is a great one to bookmark as it helps know of all kinds of problems... I'm sure this will be on the news soon too if not already
