This photoshoot idea was the start of the Storybook Retreat. Nothing huge, nothing fully formed, just a concept that I was so excited to bring to life for myself. And now somehow it’s turned into the thing I’m most proud of creating in my entire career.

That feels strange to even write.
Because Storybook Retreat isn’t just the photos, it’s about sharing my philosophy that photos should be more than just a set of poses. It’s the feeling of watching people open up creatively in real time. It’s ideas bouncing around and turning into something bigger than any one of us. It’s a group of girls who didn’t really know each other at first, and then suddenly we’re staying up until 2am laughing like we are college roommates.

It’s shooting for hours and not noticing the time passing. It’s checking the weather and preparing for tornadoes. It’s stray kittens showing up out of nowhere, ducks making nests under the house, and horses running through the field. It’s candlelit dinners that turn into long conversations that no one wants to leave.

And I keep coming back to the fact that all of this came from a single thought. Morgan Ziegler Photography and I just… decided to make it real. To take something small and build it into a space where community and creativity could exist together in the way I’ve always wanted them to.

I am so thankful for every person that made this dream a reality.

I wish I could adequately express how much fulfillment this job brings me. I love meeting my couples, learning about their lives, and witnessing their love. Every time I edit I think about all the things that couple said that made me laugh, all the inspiring things about them, all the endearing ways they treated each other. Meeting you all makes me want to do a happy dance. Let’s be friends and let me take photos of all the little things that make your love story special 💌

welcome to kenzie lynne photography

a storytelling space for couples who care more about feeling than perfection.

Now that I am full time (YAY!!), I started asking myself what I was actually building, because I didn’t just want to take pretty photos.

I kept coming back to this idea of memory and how fragile it is. how the person you are right now won’t exist in the same way five years from now.

That impermanence means art will always matter. because when something moves us, we reach for it. we replay the scene. we take a photo. we try to hold onto the feeling a little longer.

I want to build a business built around that feeling. around laughing until you cry, caring so deeply it almost embarrasses you, and people who call ordinary things adventures.

I’m drawn to depth, to passion, to the kind of love that risks being seen. because the best parts of being alive require that risk: saying what you mean, holding someone’s hand, creating something and letting it exist in the world.

sometimes I look back at photos of my younger self and feel so many emotions at once. that’s me, but it isn’t. I love her. I hope she’s proud. I miss her in a strange way.
and one day, when we are old and wrinkled, we’ll look back at photos of who we are right now and feel the same ache. the same tenderness. the same disbelief that time moved so quickly.

that’s why this matters. I care about photos that capture the feelings of life.

this space is for couples who want their story told as it actually is. not polished into something unrecognizable, but preserved in a way that feels true.

this is a new chapter for me. one that feels more rooted in who I am and what I believe this work can be.
