The Self Gaze, a four hour workshop on seeing yourself not as you have been seen but as you see (yourself). Created for anyone wanting to return to themselves, reclaim what has been taken, document where they’ve been and are going, supported by two bo***ir photographers Emma Parker & Jessa Rodriguez and self portrait artist Caitlin Metz.

Our self-portraits offered us a portal inward, a blue print, a new way of seeing. While our modality happens to be photography, the theory and practices we will share can be applied across disciplines. In a world where we have been conditioned to see ourselves through the eyes of others, it is not only a radical act of self preservation, but a form of resistance to build this self practice.

Can you hold your own gaze, can you define yourself outside of your ability to produce and perform? Can you sit with yourself?

The Self Gaze is a container for you to practice being with yourself in public - within a carefully curated space to ease into the ritual of seeing yourself without being hijacked by others perception of you.
