Hidden in the snowstorm 🥶

Looking back through my images of past winters in Rocky Mountain National Park, I have fallen in love with the mountains all over again. Swift winds piercing my coat, snowflakes getting in my eyes, and losing the feeling in my hands are all sensations that are lost to time. Only the beauty sticks with me in memory.

Each step forward is a small step backwards as you’re hiking in the sand dunes. Every footstep gives way to a flood of sand particles that climb their way into every nook and cranny of your shoes. Finally reaching the top, I sank into the sand with heavy breaths feeling as though I had hiked 4 times the amount of distance I had just covered. As I caught my breath, I gazed at the surrounding landscape in awe of the shadows and natural curves that were ever-shifting with the wind.

Through my 4 years of college, my love for photography blossomed. Looking back through photographs, I could truly see the progression in skill and capturing images with intention and focus. One of the most unique aspects of the small river town of Alton, Illinois, and a defining feature, are the countless barges that slowly trudge up and down the Mississippi River day and night. From atop the bluffs that follow the river, I was able to capture one of these trudging transports with a beautiful backdrop of fall foliage.

One of my all time favorite images from my abroad in Greece in 2018.

After being tossed around in a tumultuous sea for several hours, we finally arrived to the port of Heraklion. Onboard the ferry, a frustrating thing occurred. It was only a few days into my trip, and already my travel tripod had broken into pieces and along with it my hopes for capturing long exposures were shattered. I did what I could to hold the camera steady as I failed multiple times to capture the intense lighting storm that was rocking the skies all around me. As soon as we docked, I ran down to a nearby pier and squatted down on some rocks to find a stable place for my camera. I only sat for a few moments before not one, but TWO lightning bolts illuminated the sky before me!
