Katherine M. Blanner

Katherine M. Blanner Lifestyle photographer For my eighth birthday, my grandfather gave me a simple film camera. I prefer to capture those instances as they are: organic and pure.

From that moment on, I have loved the beautiful and powerful medium of photography, and the capturing of fleeting moments. I do not use Photoshop, although I own it and am trained in the program; I do use basic edits (cropping, altering the shadows, highlights, contrast, and brightness, changing the image from color to grayscale). To me, it is not about marketing off of a hobby that I have loved s

ince a young age, but capturing the subject naturally, ensuring the beauty of the individual's soul is captured.

This was a once in a lifetime opportunity for me… and I’ve had a few of those. I was hired by Austyn and Chris, who renewed their vows in the (née Sears tower) They’d gotten the chance to do this through a sweepstakes, called Love on the Ledge. And I got to go. How freaking cool.

I’ve been trying new presets and getting better and better at my photography technicality. Even with 10+ years under my belt, there’s always more to learn. That’s what I love about photography. It’s always new. I think that’s also why my adhd likes it… never boring. Always new people, new techniques, new gear. Shout out to this couple for braving the cold and getting some great engagement photos :)

I created a studio in my home to keep this new family warm and comfortable in the chilly weather.

The tiny newborn details you forget. The tiny wrinkly feet. Small hands that don’t know what they’re doing. The scrunch. The little wispy hair. Scrunchy face. Tiny side profile. I love being a mom, and I love that I know the little things that change so quickly with parenthood. It helps me photograph it even better.

I had the marvelous pleasure of photographing ’s fourth baby. It’s been fun to find a kinship in her and watch her family grow. Almost three years ago, I photographed her newborn third child when I was pregnant with my twins. What a gift!

Ryan & Anna in October of 2025! They didn’t ask for film photos, but I had a roll that needed 3 pictures taken on it. And sometimes a little extra treat after your wedding day of a film photo is such a delight. Taken on Kodak portra 120mm film, 400 iso. Developed by 🤟

Maggie & James on Kodak portra 400. Developed by !

I want to give a huge shout out to the developers at the dark slide, Emily and Eve. They emailed me a while back and said “hey, I think you might need to service your 120mm camera, it seems to have a glitch!” Which was super helpful!

To troubleshoot, I asked in a medium format photography group, with pictures of both my camera and my previous developed photos with the glitch, and they helped me fix it from there. Maggie and James’s wedding was the first wedding I shot with my 120mm film camera with that glitch fixed!

Thanks to the dark slide film gals, and a Facebook group, Maggie and James, Forest park, August haze in St. Louis…I got these amazing pictures.
