"Frozen Beeches"
Frozen Beech trees on the side of Little Hump Mountain, Roan Highlands. This was taken Tuesday morning, I hiked up onto Little Hump before sunrise in hopes of seeing some nice rime ice. The rime ice didn't disappoint, it was almost 2 inches thick in most places but the mountain stayed fogged in with a light sleet all morning.
I thought these small Beech trees stood out well in the foggy frozen landscape.

"AT North"
Here's another shot from a couple of weeks ago from Round Bald, Roan Highlands. I had went up there that morning hoping to see some rime ice on the trees but there was very little there. I did manage to find a few trees that had a little ice on them. The ice clinging on this tree really glistened as the rising sun lit up the sky.

Black Mountains Aglow
Here's another image I took yesterday morning from Round Bald, Roan Highlands. This is a view of the Black Mountain Range, home to some of the highest peaks in the Eastern US including the highest Mt. Mitchell.

I made it up onto Round Bald this morning for sunrise. The early morning light was magical but did not last long. The sky was so clear I was able to capture a shot of the Charlotte skyline, over 80 miles away. I've seen and captured it before but it always amazes me being able to see that far.

Sorry for the lack of posts, between family and work I haven't had much time to dedicate to photography or this page. I will try and make an effort to put more time in.
I did get the opportunity to make it out and enjoy an Autumn hike Thursday evening and this is an image from then. This is a view looking south down the Linville Gorge, Hawksbill Mountain, Table Rock, and Shortoff Mountain are all visible here.

Wind Sculpted
A frozen Hawthorn tree seems to be sculpted by the wind on the southern hillside of Little Hump Mountain, Roan Highlands.
I know it sure doesn't feel like Winter now but I wanted share this image I took 10 days ago before Spring officially begins. Like always feel free to share :)

Spring is almost here and I've already been seeing some Daffodils blooming. This is an image I took March 17th last year at Daffodil Flats, Linville Gorge.
Located in the rugged Linville Gorge, Daffodil Flats is the only sign of an old homestead that's been gone now for many years.

"Tracks In The Snow"
Coyote tracks lead the way along the Appalachian Trail as it makes it's way to the top of Little Hump Mountain. Little Hump Mountain is located in Avery County and makes up part of the Roan Highlands Mountain Range.

"Ice Fishing"
I happened upon this Blue Heron yesterday morning at Linville Falls. I had climbed upon a rock to take pictures of the waterfall when I saw this bird standing in the water, I was pretty close to it and it did not notice me at first. I quietly got my camera out of my pack and got one shot off before it heard me and quickly flew away.
