This is the face behind Layne Media Co.
And yes, this is a self-portrait I took myself.
My name is Aaron. I’m 25 years old, completely self-taught, and my photography journey started with a drone.
What began as something I enjoyed gradually became something I wanted to improve. One camera led to another, one event led to the next, and eventually, Layne Media Co. became something I took seriously.
Outside of photography, I work as an Operating Engineer. Most of my week is spent around heavy equipment and machinery, working long days and early mornings. Photography became the creative side of my life.
Motorsports is where much of my passion lies. Drag racing, cars, bikes—anything loud, fast, and difficult to capture well. I love freezing those split seconds most people never get to see.
One of the biggest reasons I love motorsports and wildlife photography is that nothing is staged. Every moment is different, and none of it can truly be replicated. You can be in the same place, photographing the same car, animal, or event, and still never capture the exact same moment twice.
That’s what makes it so meaningful to me. Photography is the moment held still.
Wildlife is almost the complete opposite of motorsports, which is exactly why I enjoy it. It slows everything down. There’s no crowd, no pressure, and usually no noise—just me, a camera, and whatever happens to show up. It’s one of the few things that can completely quiet my mind.
If you’ve seen me at an event, there’s a good chance you’ve also seen me standing a little farther back.
I’m not usually the photographer pushing to the front, trying to be the loudest person in the winner’s circle, or making sure everyone knows I’m there. I prefer to stay out of the way, pay attention to what’s happening, and let the work speak for itself.
Because of that, I know I get overlooked sometimes.
And that’s okay.
I’d rather earn attention through the photos I create than demand it.
I’m still learning and improving. I can look back at something I shot six months ago and immediately see what I would do differently today. That probably isn’t going to stop anytime soon.
Still, I’m proud of how far this has come from simply flying a drone around.
My goal is to turn Layne Media Co. into a name people recognize, especially in motorsports. If that eventually means doing this full time, I certainly wouldn’t complain.
More than anything, I want the name attached to work I’m proud to put out into the world.
I’ve learned that you don’t have to be the loudest person in the room to build something worthwhile. Sometimes, you just keep showing up, keep improving, have a little faith, and let the results speak for themselves.
