Morning light, home-cooked food, and photos on the front porch... I don't think a session gets much better than this. ☕️🍁

Getting to photograph Svetlana’s family again this year was such a joy! She’s an incredible photographer herself and a dear friend, so being welcomed into her mom’s home felt like visiting family.

Her mom’s front porch was dressed up in all its autumn best, making it a delightful spot for their photos. But my favorite part of the entire morning was capturing Svetlana and her mom together. There’s something so special about adult mothers and daughters taking time to pause and get in front of the lens together.

Afterward, they invited me to sit down for brunch. I almost said no out of habit, but I stayed—and sitting around that table, sharing stories over a delicious breakfast in the glorious morning light, felt genuinely sacred.

Sessions at home are truly the most meaningful. It has me dreaming about launching a Four-Seasons Front Porch Session series next year—capturing families on their own porches as the seasons unfold! 🌸 ☀️ 🍂 ❄️

Miranda is a total rock star- and this session was proof that when a live shoot throws curveballs, you end up with absolute magic! 🌃 ✨

Behind-the-scenes reality: Miranda was genuinely under the weather, facing an early work shift the next morning, and dealing with my off-camera flash completely going on strike right at dusk. But if you know Miranda- Honor Society President, cheerleader, and all-around force, she doesn't back down. She rolled with every pivot, kept smiling, and completely owned downtown Dayton like a pro.

Since we're leading off with downtown, you're seeing the mural art outside old-school Gilly’s and those cool, ambient night shots under the Neon Theatre glow. But we actually started our afternoon over at Wegerzyn Gardens, surrounded by lush greenery, wishing wells, and garden blooms for a quiet moment of scripture reading.

Having known Rich and Cherry since I was a teenager myself, getting to capture both Ben and Miranda’s senior chapters is just huge for me. Rich and Cherry, thank you for carrying my step stool, scouting spots, and being the best crew on set! ❤️

Most family photo sessions start with the same debate: where should we take them?

When Kylie Haase Bush and I were planning her family’s second session, Cox Arboretum MetroPark was at the top of the list. But then she took a leap of faith and trusted my vision to stay right in their own front yard instead. 🌳 📸 ✨

For military families, home is a location that changes every few years. The trees, the porch steps, the grass where the boys play- these spaces are the backdrop to a chapter that flies by. Years down the road, when the Bush family is settled into their next station, these photos won't just showcase their smiles. They’ll hold the memories of the place they called home right here in Ohio. 🏡 🇺🇸 ❤️

On a quiet side street just off Main St. sits our towns history, the first home in Springboro. It was designed specifically to protect those seeking freedom. To provide a safe place to rest and house those on their journey.
