As I sit here on my couch after sending out my sister and my bonus sister’s gallery, I am a little overwhelmed. One year ago, I took their pictures for them. I picked up my camera, drove to Mercer, and took pictures for almost two hours. I thought I knew what I was doing. 😂 Little did I know just how much I was going to learn in the next year. Looking at their galleries today and comparing them to the pictures I took one year ago… the growth is INSANE. But honestly, when I look back, I don’t just see growth in my photography. I see the faithfulness of God. Over this last year, SO many people have come alongside me to teach me, encourage me, push me out of my comfort zone, and guide me with this little dream of mine. From Lightroom editing lessons, to locations. Camera settings, to lighting. People allowing me to borrow equipment and anything else I might need. People trusting me to capture their memories when they weren’t really sure what to expect. People reassuring me when I doubted myself. People who have answered my fifty eleven questions, shared their knowledge, and believed in me along the way. And oh, how the list goes on and on. I am so incredibly thankful for how the Lord has sovereignly placed every single person in my life exactly when I needed them. I can look back and see His hand in every part of this journey. There have been SO many sessions where I have gotten back in my car, sat there for a second, and just thought, what a good God we serve. Through this little business of mine, God’s sovereign hand, grace, and provision have been magnified in my life in ways I never could have imagined. When I started this business, I prayed for the people who would stand in front of my lens. I prayed that the Lord would guide me, provide for me, and use this little dream for His glory. And He answered that prayer far beyond anything I could have imagined. I have been incredibly blessed by the people who have trusted me to capture their memories, but I have been just as blessed by the people who have come alongside me behind the camera and behind the scenes and helped me grow. So yes, I am proud of how much I have grown in a year. But more than that, I am so grateful. It has been so amazing to see the Lords sovereignty, grace, and provision. And if there is one thing I hope I never forget as this little business continues to grow, it is that none of this is by accident. Every person in front of my lens, every person behind my camera, every lesson, and every open door has been placed there by a good and sovereign God. What a good God we serve!
Soli Deo Gloria. 🤍
