Bug Boys had a great idea to help the community. Growden Heating & Cooling, Cutter's Sewer & Drain Cleaning, and Platt's Construction Inc. all jumped in and decided to do the same. So, I'm hopping on the giveaway train, with a little twist.

4710 Photography is giving away 10 gifts cards. They will be $25 a piece and for local restaurants: Mezzos, Oscar's Restaurant, Lashbaugh's Bar & Grill, D'Atri Restaurant, Baltimore Street Grill, Chick-fil-A Queen City Centre, Chick-fil-A LaVale, Hartleys Pizza, All that to go, and Patrick's Pub And Eatery.

So, on April 1st, 10 families who have been laid-off and are struggling during this unprecedented time will be receiving a gift card. If you or someone you know is affected by this please, private message me their name and address. This will be 100% confidential.

I can only help 10, first come first serve. All I ask is limit it to those people who have been laid-off and are truly struggling to make ends meet and to put food on the table.

God bless... stick together (6 feet apart), love each other, and wash your hands. Please 'Like' our business pages (that helps more than you know) and share the post.

Hello friends!! (longish post)

I hope this finds you all staying healthy and making the best of the current situation we have found ourselves in as a community and a Nation.

I don’t have many marketable skills, I don’t have any manufacturing capabilities, and I surely don’t have a lot of money. However, I would like to help out where I can. With that said.. I do not have this photography business as my main source of income. I do not support a family with this business. I have this business to see beautiful things, quench the creative bug, and make a little bit of traveling money. There are SEVERAL phenomenal photographers in our area that do rely on this type of business as their livelihood. Please please please continue to support them! However, if you are or you know someone struggling or has been struggling, and this terrible chain of events has compounded that: I would like to help.

My offer: I would like to provide my photography services to you and your family. When everything gets back to a “new” normal and you need a professional headshot to find work, I’ll help. High school seniors: if the proms and/or graduations get canceled, dress up or throw on your cap and gown, we’ll shoot.

Please reach out and let me know when and if I can help, it’s the least I can do. This is a honor system based, I trust that people who are better off than others will do the right thing and allow folks truly in need, the opportunity to obtain these services.

When the time comes I will help as many people as I can. I’m a one person operation, so please be patient with me. I look forward to helping those that I can.

Feel free to share this with your friends and family.

Stick together (6 feet apart..), check on each other, love each other, and wash your hands.

💙Sean

ONLINE SNEAK PREVIEW:

Ty Johnson is Allegany Magazine’s 2020 “Most Fascinating”

Pro Football Player among 20 people featured in January edition

Who do you find fascinating?

It’s a question we have been asking our readers for 14 years.

This year, for the fourth time, Allegany Magazine has chosen one of the names suggested by you as the area’s “Most Fascinating Person" for 2020.

And this year, that title belongs to professional football player and Fort Hill High School alum, Ty Johnson.

For the first time in the history of choosing someone to be Allegany Magazine’s ‘Most Fascinating Person of the Year’ our staff was in complete agreement as to the choice for 2020.

No one from Allegany County has captured our attention, our time, our conversations, our televisions on game night and indeed – our hearts – in the last 12 months than 2015 Fort Hill High School graduate – Ty Johnson.

Drafted by the Detroit Lions in May 2019, this is Ty Johnson’s second Allegany Magazine cover. His first was in July 2017 when he was a promising pro playing for the University of Maryland.

Ty has literally been shot out of a canon – from his small town upbringing in Cumberland to the bright lights and swirling constant attention that comes with being a rising professional football star. With his boy next door looks, engaging smile, rapport with fans, natural finesse and hair that seems to have its own personality, Ty Johnson is poised to be the "best thing from Detroit since Motown."

Ty Johnson appears on our January 2020 cover in a photograph taken by photo correspondent, Sean McCarty of 4710 Photography and in a design by Allegany Magazine graphics editor Jeremy Warnick. The photo and cover have also been endorsed and approved by the Detroit Lions organization.

“Ty’s story is one of great person who made good decisions and surrounded himself with the right people to accomplish his goals,” said his former head coach at Fort Hill High School and mentor, Todd Appel.

“People ask me now all the time, ‘do you think you’ve made it yet?’ and I’m like ‘nah.’ I still have a long way to go and a lot to do,” Ty says in an included interview with us inside the new issue. "I will feel like I made it when I am sitting on a beach one day with my family. This football stuff is temporary. The NFL stands for Not For Long. But I plan to make the most of it while I’m here.”

The other 19 “most fascinating” people who appear in the January 2020 edition of Allegany Magazine include Mark and Jennifer Ashby, John Balch, Steve Bazarnic, Joe Caporale, Roy Carls, McKenzie Christopher, Derek Crippen, Eugene Frazier, Nicole Halmos, Drew Hankinson (a.k.a. Luke Gallows), Beth Hilliker, Rita Knox, Sean McCagh, Dorian McCartney, J.W. Meyers, Mary Beth Pirilizzo, Melanie Vogel, and Dawn Wolford.

Allegany Magazine is a sister publication to the Cumberland-Times News. It is available by subscription and at more than 50 retail partners throughout Allegany, Bedford, Garrett and Mineral Counties.
