As you know, all of my seniors are special to me—each one connected through teaching, music, or friendship. But sometimes, you get the joy of capturing your most beautiful niece in one of the most beautiful places on earth.

Laney, you are the epitome of poise and grace. You shine with a beauty that is both powerful and quiet—rooted in love, strength, and true brilliance. Spending time with you and your mom was such a gift, and what a perfect evening it was.

When I first met Zoe, she was 3. She came into the preschool classroom with her mother and positively lit up when she saw the blank canvas on the easel. She grabbed the paintbrush, looked at her mother with huge, inspired eyes and said (and I quote) "Mom, can I Jackson Po***ck?" And she did, all over the classroom, and me, and the other teachers. And I knew then that I would love her forever. After that we wrote some musicals together, we played some piano, I watched her dance and choreograph, make art, I listened to her stories when she returned from Spain for a semester last year. I watched her
grow. right. up.

I got to do her portraits on a couple different evenings this week. It was impossibly fun! We talked about her plans going forward. She'll be applying to a bunch of schools near and far. And guess what she'll study? Just like that 3 year old I met so long ago. She'll study art history.

My job is impossibly good.

I've had the privilege of knowing most of the seniors I photograph for much of their lives. I love how each of their stories is unique, and I strive to capture them in a way that reflects my understanding of who they are. This remarkable individual (whose highlights album will soon emerge from my collection) is as vibrant, soulful, and full of life as she appears in this silhouetted image from the other night. Autumn is, without a doubt, my favorite season—especially when I get to experience evenings like these.

Spending time with Lilah and her family is pure magic. Lilah and I have known each other for a long time. We wrote musicals together. We spent time in the halls of Breakwater. I was lucky enough to be able to capture not one - but two amazing humans in the past week! What a joy it is being around a senior with the world at their fingertips! It is so much fun to capture a beautiful soul like this girl on a gorgeous summer day in Maine. It's even more magical when that beautiful soul is your niece! As a general rule, I don't take on weddings as a photographer BUT when one of your dearest students from many moons ago asks you to photograph her wedding, there's only one answer: YES. This wedding was so full of love and life and sweetness - such an intoxicating event of two people in love. I couldn't stop smiling. Congratulations, Gaelyn and Tyler.
