If I can be reeeeeealllllly honest for a second...these sweet little new photographers with the big hats, long hair (always worn down), wearing cute little summer dresses and selling themselves as shooting barefoot with cameras they clearly don't understand...
I see you. We all see you. You’ve got the brand-new mirrorless camera, the wide-brimmed lack-of-color hat that catches every gust of wind, and a flowing linen summer dress that screams "I just frolicked through a meadow."
I know the "barefoot artist connecting with the earth" look is great for your IG behind-the-scenes reels, but we are shooting at a public park, friends. That grass is part goose p**p, part hidden fire ants, and the rest broken glass from a recent bonfire. Your immune system is doing gymnastics right now.
So please, for the love of all things holy, put some shoes on, pull your hair back into something practical (yet cute - you can still be cute!) and put some pants on. Ain't no body got time for the Tennessee bugs and sweat around here.
Start learning how to photograph in all sorts of light, working with difficult client situations and sell yourself as an actual visual artist who knows how to do more than look adorable in a hat. Edit ONLY what you need to change. And for the love of all true photography, please stop using presets for everything.
(Maybe I'm just jealous that I look horrible in a hat and that I don't have long, gorgeous hair. Also please know this has nothing to do with ANY local photogs. I would never do that. It was a set of IG reels that I came upon this morning and it clearly made me a little snarky.)
