I only posted twice last year (yes TWICE!) so I told myself that I'd post more this year. Here is this month's entry: Last summer, while on a trip to Minneapolis, I captured a project that I've been interested in for a while - the Minneapolis Public Service Building.

I don't often post my photographs of parking garages, but WHEN I DO...it's because the project has won multiple awards!

The Sioux Falls Regional Airport (FSD) Parking Garage and Skywalk has earned multiple honors, including an Honorable Mention in the International Parking & Mobility Institute’s (IPMI) 2025 Awards of Excellence, which recognizes innovation, sustainability, and customer experience in mobility design. In July 2025, it was also named Commercial Airport Architecture Project of the Year by the Great Lakes Chapter of the American Association of Airport Executives (GLCAAAE).

Completed in October of 2024, the project boosts parking capacity by 20%, enhances passenger safety, and provides a seamless connection between the garage and terminal all while setting a new standard for airport parking in the region.

Happy Architecture Week! Architecture Week 2025 is a nationwide celebration recognizing the power of good design, with a goal of inspiring hopeful architecture and design professionals. I've been VERY busy the last 6 months, but I figured now is as good a time as any to get back to posting! Here's one of my favorite assignments from last year - the "Borland Center for Music and Theater" at Concordia University in Seward, NE. Designed by HDR and featuring Gage Brothers precast.

This holiday season as we gather with our family and friends, I am reminded of one of my favorite assignments of the year. This one-of-a-kind 3-level Double A Frame retreat (aptly named The Parallel) is nestled in the heart of the northern Black Hills recreational corridor and sleeps 32! This is truly a destination like no other, where modern architecture meets natural serenity. Great job Custom Homes!

Kids all over South Dakota are back in school again. CMBA Architects has designed a school in Chamberlain that deploys a pod-style configuration for dedicated learning spaces and grade level collaboration, provides visibility, and offers shared spaces for resources and learning.
