Warm temps and rain mean only one thing : Herps! Took the family and friends out last night to watch dozens of Spotted Salamanders make their way to a vernal pool. When the rain let up I was able to get the macro lens on some of these beauties. The tiny frog is a Spring Peeper.

The Red-winged Blackbirds are back at my local marsh, and I vowed to shoot them differently this year, to try and push my creativity. and have been discussing keeping things fresh while shooting the same species at the same location over and over. This morning I decided to incorporate some dew as a foreground bokeh. Lots more to come from this series. Looking forward to pushing myself at this spot in the coming weeks.

Believe it or not, there were other shorebirds besides Purple Sandpipers at Barmegat last week. I was happy to capture this brief moment when a Ruddy Turnstone stopped moving in really nice light.
