🍁 We started the wedding celebration for Cody & Jack back at their alma mater, , on a gorgeous fall Friday at Venue . The following morning brought us to the Woodstock Inn & Resort where Cody and her bridesmaids, and Jack and his groomsmen, gathered for a supportive start filled with love and pretty fall colors! 🧡💖🥦🌿🌾 The wonderful Ted added to Cody’s beautiful wedding vision with the perfect fall florals, Emily brought reception dreams to life, sisters and cousins and moms helped dog-sit and debut a special canine guest of honor 🐾, and the beauty of Kelly Way served as the perfect setting for a New England fall ceremony.

Sharing this wedding is particularly meaningful to me. Cody and Jack are the kind of people you want to be there for - through their acts and their energy, they display a sense of humility and gratitude for all that they have. The love that came together for them on this day was beautiful to behold and I hoped all day and into that night, as they thanked me for my care, that they felt that too🫶🏻

I recently attended the commencement ceremony of a friend graduating from an accelerated nursing degree program (she is now officially a RN! 👏🏻 🩺) and what do you know made it even more special - the talented and valuable man pictured on slide two was selected (after winning an award for excellence in teaching⭐️) as the college’s commencement speaker! - an honor bestowed upon the recipient of the college’s highest teaching award.

I was so excited to hear what he had to say, as I’ve always been a big fan of what both he and his wife are about when it comes to navigating the world and the human condition.

Steward of the natural world, scientist and professor Dave Lutz says something that resonates with my vocation - the more we observe, the more we understand.

Always be sympathetic, he says. This includes how you approach yourself - no basing judgement off a single sample. 🧪 We all have hard days.

Always be savoring. Definition: to Enjoy fully and intensely, in full and complete appreciation of the moment… It keeps you mindful and present, a transformative event that makes you feel gratitude.

Always be sailing. Dave shared the words on the graduation card from his Hungarian immigrant grandmother, written at 85 after surviving the Holocaust and Hungarian revolution: “Dearest grandson, be a good sailor on the sea of life. A sailor who knows his destination, keeps his direction, and does not let himself be swayed away by winds and waves.”
No matter what the world threw at her she maintained her inner compass, he shared.
He made it clear (through love and support offered in his speech) that not only is he an esteemed steward of the natural world, but of the young minds bold enough to “always be sampling”, and to a crowd full of students and their closest supporters, he signed off with “Happy Sailing”👏🏻
