Wild Horses Monument, WA: Comet Tsuchinshan-Atlas is the second comet that I've chased. Neowise being the first, it was an exciting two weeks to find positions for the comet over different objects in the PNW. I was able to capture it over Mt Rainer, Mt Adams, and Mt Hood.

Tsuchinshan-Atlas appeared in our Northern hemisphere skies after it had already made its trip around the Sun. Unfortunately this means it is already heading out of system and will only get dimmer and dimmer. Another unfortunate astro timing event is the full Moon. We don't get the darkest skies that would really show it off.

Teaming up with my good friend Hilton Chen we drove East, out of the rain of Seattle, to the Wild Horses Monument.

Funny story, on the way there I realized I had forgotten my jacket. We stopped at a rest stop and I raided the bathroom for toilet paper and sanitary seat covers which I waded up and stuffed in my shirt. It worked! I stated warm and got this cool shot below.
