Wild Essence Austin

Wild Essence Austin Wildlife photographer and Zoology student at Oregon State University. I'm a hobby photographer with a deep love for animals and the outdoors.

I recently moved to Texas and capture native wildlife in Austin, Texas in their natural environments and share stories from the trails to inspire awareness, education, and conservation. I focus on capturing the beauty of native California wildlife—birds, reptiles, mammals, and more—right in their natural habitats. Every photo I share tells a small part of the bigger story of our state’s incredible biodiversity.

Yesterday I stepped out of my comfort zone and attended a nature walk hosted by among meeting some cool people, there was a point we stopped to introduce ourselves and share a goal we wish to accomplish in the next 60 days.

While listening to the group I couldn’t help but notice a crazed mocking bird harassing this red shouldered hawk. Not sure if tho was the moving birds nest and just got pushed out, or if this the actual hawks nest because its night joined shortly after the mocking bird left.

Always a good feeling seeing any of your prints up somewhere. My friend Savanah’s has these in her barbershop of some photos I took while in California. I’m not a professional photographer, but anytime someone appreciates your stuff it feels good.

Love how kestrels seem to find the tiniest branch and balance from it as they look for food.

Yesterday I took a walk with my camera and came across a number of wildlife, but didn’t expect to see my fist barred owl. When I arrived I took a path full of ice/snow and though it was freezing I spent my time just slowly walking around at one point I though I heard a barred owl.. so I continued searching n keeping my eyes out in the trees, but nothing.. , I continued on because sometimes you get that feeling that you’re on the right path. I saw some white tail deer, few woodpeckers, and then.. on my way back to my car a bird swooped down low from one tree to another, I instantly knew it was an owl. I was so excited I wanted to switch my settings to video and looked down for a second and when I looked back up the ow was gone. When you hear about how quiet owls are in flight…. They’re not lying 😅 so far my best moment here in Texas
