One wedding day “norm” I’d love to see change…
So many couples plan their day down to the minute. Two hours for hair and makeup. Thirty minutes for family photos. Thirty minutes for portraits. One hour for dinner. Every part of the day gets its own little box on the timeline.
And there’s nothing wrong with having a plan. Timelines are important.
But I’ve noticed that when every moment feels like the next item on a checklist, it’s easy for the day to start feeling rushed. Instead of soaking it all in, you’re thinking about what’s next or whether you’re running behind.
Your wedding day isn’t something to get through. It’s something to experience.
Look at your person. Hold their hand for a little longer. Pause during dinner and take in the room. Notice the people who showed up to celebrate you. Let yourself be fully present.
At the end of the day, you probably won’t remember whether portraits started five minutes late. You’ll remember how it all felt.
That’s the part that’s worth protecting.
