When Art Moves You....
It is a reminder of the beauty and complexity of the human experience.
Featuring: “Forest Dreams: Layers in Motion”
This painting emerges as a compelling exploration of abstraction and depth, created on a substantial 30 by 22 inches of carefully prepared Stonehenge 100% cotton medium-weight paper. The work unfolds as a visually rich dialogue of acrylic, oil, and mixed media applied across the full bleed surface, allowing the forms and colors to extend to every edge without interruption.
This piece captures the tension and harmony between contrasting energies. On one side, cool blues and turquoise flow in wave-like, swirling patterns, intersected by vertical lines that lend a quiet structure amid their fluidity. Opposing this, warmer tones of yellow and orange blend with green and black layers, textured and intricate, where black, vine-like markings weave through the surface, inviting closer inspection of their delicate complexity. Cross-shaped highlights and touches of white punctuate the composition, suggesting a subtle illumination that resonates with a sense of expansive space.
“Forest Dreams: Layers in Motion” is an abstraction of layering—not simply a visual technique but an immersive metaphor for experience and perception. The intention was to translate the notion of five distinct yet interconnected layers into a single composition, where color, line, and texture engage in dynamic interplay without losing balance. The treated Stonehenge paper offers a tactile foundation that both absorbs and reflects this process, enhancing the lifespan and vibrancy of the surface interactions.
In creating this work, I immersed myself in the challenge of capturing movement within stillness and complexity within simplicity. The layers speak to transformation, the subtle shifts beneath surface appearances that define not only nature’s forests but the inner landscapes of thought and feeling. The piece stands as an open invitation to witness how disparate elements coexist—in motion yet resting, distinct yet unified—offering space for reflection on the many layers that shape our dreams and realities.
