Yesterday we said goodbye to my childhood cat after 17 years together…

He had been diagnosed with kidney failure almost 4 years ago, with his age we certainly did not expect him to thrive and be so happy for so long. My mom knew we wouldn’t have four more years with him no matter how badly we wished, so in February she asked me to take pictures of him.

The pictures have sat, unedited on my laptop since then. Not because they weren’t important, but because I thought there was more time. So today, as a part of my grieving and healing process, I went through them and edited them and wished I had taken so many more. But I am so grateful that she asked me to take them while he was still his happy, fluffy, healthy looking self.

So I am sharing him, because losing a pet is one of the hardest things to go through and it never seems fair, never seems like enough time. Now because of this, I want to give other pet owners and families the same thing. I will indefinitely be offering free sessions for elderly or terminally ill pets and their families, a way to honor, and remember a furry loved one who will be gone too soon

This is something I have gone back and forth on for months. I thought if I didn’t share any names or identifying details it would be okay, but I no longer believe that.

This will not change the way I photograph, or deliver galleries. But as a mother, it is my responsibility to ensure that not just my children, but yours too are protected.

My pages are public, anyone anywhere can view what I post. I will be removing any posts containing faces and reposting non identifying photos from previous sessions.
