Are You Ready For Your Headshots? Here are some tips to get you started!
For some, the idea of having headshots done is simply taking portrait pictures in your favorite attire. The pictures can turn out great, and your pose is spot on. But will this help you get noticed? Remember, when planning for a variety of looks it’s always a best practice to figure out which types of characters fall within the persona you are trying to portray. Some examples are:
1.) The rebellious teen
2.) The comedic sidekick
3.) The popular cheerleader
4.) The antagonist or protagonist
5.) The boyfriend/girlfriend but with jealousy issues
There are many character parts out there you may be trying for, but knowing the looks your aiming for before your headshots is important when trying to land these roles. So, try and create a persona for each character you want to portray, as if you will be acting the part. Yes, it is only a still image, but the character behind the picture is what needs to stand out.
If you’re tying for the role as a popular cheerleader, then the attitude and attire should reflect your confidence and beauty. The same idea applies with a role as an antagonist. Your look and style should have a certain sinister edge to it.
Knowing how many looks you are trying to achieve (Typically 2-3) and choosing the styles that will differentiate enough between characters will help the entire process flow.
