Some of my favorite photographs aren’t the ones where everyone is looking at me.
They’re the ones where Grandma is showing a granddaughter how to skip rocks.
Where cousins disappear into their own little world.
Where Grandpa gets tackled into the sand.
Where siblings whisper secrets only they’ll remember.
The truth is, family isn’t just parents and kids.
It’s the people who shaped your childhood.
The ones your children light up when they arrive.
The relationships that deserve to be remembered just as much as the annual Christmas card photo.
That’s why my summer sessions look a little different.
We’ll wander.
We’ll play.
We’ll collect shells.
We’ll chase waves.
We’ll tell terrible jokes.
I’ll offer little games and gentle prompts, and then I’ll step back and let your family be your family.
Because years from now, I don’t think you’ll miss having one more perfectly posed photograph.
I think you’ll treasure remembering how it felt to be together.
