In the Whitsunday Islands, as well as in Sydney, we were frequently visited by gorgeous Sulphur Crested Cockatoos. This little guy was part of a group that visited our boat to sip on the precious dew that formed each morning.
They were quite fearless and inquisitive. After hopping around on our table for a while, this one assumed a perch on the davit at the rear of our boat, presenting an amazing opportunity to catch the detail in his feathers and his bright crest in the dawn light.
Unfortunately these birds are being attached by Psittacine Beak and Feather Disease in the Whitsundays and we saw some very sick birds while on Hamilton Island.
The group that visited us seems fit and healthy and we felt blessed to be able to get up close and personal with them.
