On a long overdue visit to the San Lorenzo Community Park the 1st quarter moon shared the sky with an incoming jet headed to the Oakland International Airport.

The first quarter moon shines in a clear blue sky that it shares with a jet heading for a landing at the Oakland, California Airport.

Last night's lunar eclipse was at its very last stages when I stepped outside last night and saw the clouds had parted just enough to it behind a hazy veil of mist. The Full Sturgeon Moon with a bit of remaining eclipse shadow.

There's a storm brewing out in the Pacific and headed this way, eventually. Tonight's subdued sunset at the San Leandro Marina barely hinted at it:

Clouds on the western horizon were precursors of rain storms heading to the San Francisco Bau Area, but generated a relatively subdued sunset at San Leandro's Marina.

Holding court with its brilliance dulling or completely obliterating others in tonight's night sky is the Full Cold Moon. The last Super Full Moon of 2025.

Here is something I didn't know (but then, there's a lot I don't know),

"The Old English and Anglo-Saxon names are the Moon Before Yule and the Long Night Moon. Both names refer to the winter solstice, and the ancient celebration of Yule. Another Celtic name is the Oak Moon."
Thank you, Time and Date - https://www.timeanddate.com/news/astronomy/moon-december-2025

So. go outside, look up, and if inclined, howl, at tonight bright and beautiful moon, and tomorrow, you can tell your friends how you experienced the Oak Moon.
