Start with goats. Everybody loves goats.

Recent work for Aesthete Wines at their new location in ’s

Aesthete is responding to the new wine market by creating a space and a product that’s at once premium and accessible/fun. Their location has a working farm, casual seating right by the creek where you can watch native salmon returning this fall, and a killer pizza oven.

I wanted this shoot to feel energetic and editorial to communicate their brand values. The trick with wine though is that these bottles reflect EVERYTHING so getting loose and handheld with the camera requires a lot of lighting and set design to solve for reflections before they happen.

Thanks so much to the team for bringing us in and allowing us to lead Creative Direction as well as shoot. Couldn’t have done any of this without the brilliance of - thanks bud!

I was entrusted with a man’s life.

He was dying of cancer and wanted to use his time to send a message to the world -

His vision for how to do this was audacious - team up with a pro athlete () and climb ’s Half Dome to draw attention to his story and his message. My job was to shape the message into a film so that more people could be reached.

Half Life is a film about the incredible resilience of a person whose life was shaped by the mountains. It takes you into the life of an inspiring athlete, the wilderness of one of America’s most incredible landscapes, and leaves you with a new perspective on who we are as individuals and what we have to give.

The film is currently in review at several major film festivals, but we’re sharing a special screening via ’s

I was playing with today after seeing some really beautiful medium format work from . I’m not going to pretend that this grade is anything akin to the beautiful, natural film dynamics of her story about chasing her father’s butterfly in Azerbaijan - but the cyan highlights in my issue inspired some of this look ;)

I was looking around for some imagery to grade and settled on sharing this selection from a project I did creative direction and photography on for with writer and cyclist .

Osprey was launching a new bicycle frame bag series called “Escapist”. To support their launch and connect with the market segment, I developed an advertorial story based on food tourism and how the bags could support an aspirational foodie journey through ’s . Grace and I developed a list of key foodie destinations that could be linked together by bike from hwy 101 out to the wild . Pictured here is a tease of some of the incredible grub we strapped onto our handlebar bags from .

Side note: , I’m VERY thrilled to hear about your new location. Congratulations!

just published a great spread on this work I created around in .

I grew up in the PNW in a community that was built entirely on the annual cycle of salmon. When I moved to Sonoma County and discovered that the slow, murky waters of the once surged with the same rhythm of salmon I was dumbfounded. Certainly I’d heard of ecosystems collapsing, of keystone species disappearing, but those seemed like tales from distant wastelands, not pristine

I know in my bones what a healthy river feels like, the life force is breaths with upstream and down. I’d felt like this community, splashing in the summer-warmed waters and slicking the surface with sunscreen had forgotten what a river was!

I created THE LAST COHO, a series of salmon portraits and a documentary photo essay, to show this generation of NorthBay residents what’s at stake.

There is a sadness of loss here.
There are hands slick with fish slime
Pails of row
Rivers ruined
And streams rebuilt.
And there is hope here also
But only if we raise our eyes to see
And our voices to action.

Frames (no pun) from an ongoing project in the custom bike shop at .

Getting to hang out in Jeremy’s shop as he manifests a frame out of raw materials is truly inspiring. He’s a true artist at the craft, constantly inventing and testing new designs - there’s always something new emerging from the shop, but you can spot a Sycip bike a mile off (look for the coin details on the crowns and stays)

Bike culture is big here in - it’s part of what makes a transplant like me feel at home. The bike shop has a ring of my distant Canadian home, too. My grandfather was a shipwright and his boat shed had a lot of the same vibes and energy (1000 drawers of mystery parts!)

(Holler to another brand btw, best re-use of a bottle, for sure)

Just over 2 years ago and approached me with a pretty radical idea: Kirk had recent been diagnosed with stage-4 colon cancer and was teaming up with Kevin to climb in an effort to raise awareness about preventative screening and they wanted me to help tell that story through a film.

Earlier this year Kirk and Kevin completed their climb. The effort drew a lot of attention and press - and as an extension, the film received initial funding from our now Executive Producer, .

Kirk spearheaded this whole mission and film because he “doesn’t want anyone to go through what [he’s] had to go through” This film is a like a megaphone for the critical messaging that he and organizations like are trying to spread. Colon cancer is on the rise in our country and the best thing you can do is because .

Special thanks to , , , and chrisbelandmusic for their contributions to this film.

Had the opportunity to get out in the field with the incredible crew at earlier this year.

It’s a grueling job these folks do: out in the vineyards picking through the night and managing tons of fruit by sunrise. It kind of reminded me of a car-to-car alpine mission. I even got “benighted” in my own vehicle, midway so that I could cover the midnight pick shift and the sunrise processing shift in one go.
