August was good to me! A little hiccups along the way, but overall lots of amazing memories were made! Fall is super busy season for us photographers and I also have my kiddo’s B Mitzvah in less than two months, so I’m soaking up those last calm moments of summer while I can. Plus it’s looking like the kids may not head right back to school, so life is about to get very interesting!

Big sister could not have been prouder.

This little one was right on the edge of the 4-week fussy phase, and honestly? That’s exactly what made this session so real. We paused when we needed to, snuggled through the fussy moments, and let big sister lead a little bit of the show — because that’s what in-home newborn sessions are all about. No forcing it, no rigid poses, just following baby’s cues (and big sibling’s excitement) wherever they take us.

The result: a whole lot of love, a few tears (baby’s, not mine 😉), and photos that actually feel like this family’s real life right now.

This is why I love these in-home newborn sessions — comfort for baby, comfort for parents, and room for siblings to be exactly as involved as they want to be.

Want a session like this? Send me a message — I’ll go at your baby’s pace, I promise. 🤍

Main Character Energy in Every Corner”
Bellevue Botanical Garden senior session

I’ve wanted to do a session here for forever and it did NOT disappoint. This garden has range, a suspension bridge for the drama, flowers and towering trees for the soft-girl aesthetic, stone stairs and rock walls for texture, random sculptures because why not, and a little industrial grit by the entrance for the ones who don’t do “soft” at all.

This senior matched the energy at every single stop. No notes.

This session hit different. We shot right where the Duwamish bends through South Park — bridges, stairs, tall grass, Mt. Rainier just chilling in the background like it’s not a whole mood.
Post-grad plan? Apprenticing with IBEW. Not going to lie, this one got me — my husband’s a union electrician, so watching this guy talk about following that same path with zero hesitation was kind of everything. Skilled trades are so back. Respect.

This month looked like a newborn snuggled into soft blankets, a senior stepping into his last year of high school, a handful of sweet return families running through the Rose Garden for minis, and two rounds of branding photos for women building their own businesses from the ground up. Getting to be part of all of that? Still doesn’t feel like “just a job.”

But this month also looked like me watching Toy Story 5 and crying more than my kids did, pulling off a block party, and being at the actual Mariners game yelling with everyone else instead of watching from the couch. I got almost two full weeks with my mom, which was such a gift in the middle of a busy month.
There was a quick escape to Suncadia that felt like exhaling for the first time in weeks. Our microwave straight up died mid-month (long story…RIP), so we are improvising in the kitchen for a while. I’ve been completely inspired by my Rachel Larsen Weaver | DC Family Photographer photography class. I got back to my old high school love of junk journaling (back then I didn’t know it had a name!).

Some months it’s easy to pick a side — work mode or home mode. This one made me hold both. Grateful for a job that lets me show up fully in each.

Here’s to August. 🌻

When you show up to the photo session and your kiddo isn’t having it, but very quickly they realize the strange person behind the camera let’s them be themselves, let’s them just snuggle mom and dad, is interested in who they are, and let’s them express any and all emotions….!

Then this kiddo quickly begins to warm up, relax, and engage with you and your partner. They willingly kiss your belly in excitement of their little sibling to be growing and getting ready to join the family party soon.

What a fun and relaxing outdoor adventure session exploring together. There was so much laughter, joy, and silliness. And since the grandparents happened to be there hanging out with the doggies, we grabbed them for a few images at the very end too. I cannot wait to meet this sweet little sibling and hang with this crew soon for baby’s arrival!
