Today marks the end of my military career and the beginning of Viola Haven Photography! (My new brand 🥹)
4 years ago today, I arrived at Parris Island. I can’t even remember how it happened. One day I was getting full rides to run cross country & track in college, and the next day I told my parents I wanted to enlist in the Air Force. I went to talk to a recruiter but they ghosted me..and that same day I was in a Marine Corps office signing paperwork. Then my life started changing FAST
In October 2022, while I was in Meridian, I received a phone call that changed my family forever. I fell into a small depression and honestly didn’t recognize myself. Then in November I moved here to San Diego, and I got another call in December..my God mom passed away. That’s when I hit rock bottom.
I kept looking through memories on my phone and realized I didn’t have a lot of pictures with my family. From that point forward, I knew I wanted to document everything- the good, the bad, the big, and the small moments.
When I first joined the Marine Corps, I started taking photos just to remember life. It was my first time away from my family and building friendships with people who became my brothers and sisters..I never imagined it would turn into something bigger.
Then in May 2023, my husband gifted me my first camera. It wasn’t meant to start a business though- it was meant to document life..That’s where Kindle Photography began.
Four years ago today, I stepped onto those yellow footprints. Today, I’m stepping into something bigger.
Thank you to every person I met along the way..whether it was good or bad..I learned something. Thank you to my family, my husband, and .studio for helping bring this next chapter to life. I can’t wait to share the full rebrand with you all in a few weeks🤍.
