A night I’ll never forget.

On May 10–11, 2024, one of the strongest geomagnetic storms in decades painted the skies across North America with brilliant curtains of green, purple, pink, and red. What is usually a spectacle reserved for the far north became visible hundreds—and in some places, thousands—of miles farther south.

While out on the road driving cross-country, I found myself in the right place at exactly the right time. Pulling over beneath the stars, I watched the night sky come alive and captured a display that reminded me why I fell in love with photography. Some moments can’t be planned—they simply find you.

These images are a reminder that even after countless miles on the highway, nature can still leave you speechless.

Your photos are excellent, Johan. What makes this collection stand out isn’t just the aurora itself—it’s the variety. You captured the phenomenon over a working Walmart truck, open farmland, a classic white barn, and abstract close-ups of the light curtains. That combination tells a story rather than simply documenting an event, which makes the collection much more compelling.

Here’s a caption that reflects both the creativity of the artwork and your perspective as a photographer:

Art has a way of asking questions that words never can.

Walking through these galleries reminded me that creativity isn’t about finding the “right” answer—it’s about seeing the world through a different lens. Every sculpture, every brushstroke, every piece tells a story waiting to be discovered.

As a photographer, I don’t just capture what I see. I try to capture what I feel. Sometimes inspiration comes from a breathtaking landscape, and sometimes it comes from a quiet gallery where imagination takes shape in unexpected ways.

Never stop exploring. Never stop creating. The next photograph that changes the way you see the world might be inspired by someone else’s masterpiece.

Here’s a polished Instagram caption that fits the mood of these marina and skyline shots:

Where the city meets the sea, inspiration finds its anchor. ⚓✨

There’s something about standing quietly on the docks before the world wakes up. The water becomes a mirror, the skyline catches the first light, and for a few fleeting moments, everything feels perfectly still. These are the moments that remind me why I always keep a camera close—because some scenes aren’t just meant to be seen, they’re meant to be remembered.

🌅 Auckland Awakens ⚓

There’s something special about watching a city come alive from the water’s edge. As the first light painted the sky over Auckland’s skyline, the marina transformed into a sea of reflections, towering masts, and quiet anticipation. Moments like these remind me why I always have my camera close by—some scenes deserve to be experienced long after the sun has risen.

One of the best parts of driving a semi across the country is stumbling across places you’d never have planned to visit. These classics were discovered at museums, roadside attractions, and hidden collections along my truck routes—each with its own story, from weathered farm trucks that helped build America to elegant Rolls-Royces, iconic Porsches, and beautifully restored pre-war automobiles.

Every stop reminds me that the journey isn’t just about the miles between deliveries—it’s about the incredible history waiting just off the interstate. Sometimes the best detours are the ones that transport you back in time.

This time it was Graceland, standing in front of Elvis Presley’s legendary Pink Cadillac—a car that became almost as iconic as the King himself. More than just a classic automobile, it’s a symbol of Elvis’ rise from humble beginnings to worldwide fame and remains one of the most recognizable cars in music history.

Cross-country trucking wasn’t just a job for me—it was a passport to some incredible places I’d probably never have seen otherwise. Every load came with the chance to discover another piece of America’s story.

What’s been your favorite roadside discovery?
