Story Tuesday | The Funny Things You Don’t See

You would never know what was happening five seconds after this photo was taken.

This looks like a sweet, peaceful family photo with their two pups...
But that little guy on the end?
He had other plans.

Right after we captured this, their puppy decided that the riverbed behind us looked like the perfect place for a spontaneous swim.
And suddenly, our calm family session turned into complete chaos.
There was laughing, scrambling, a wet puppy, and the kind of moment where you just have to stop trying to control the session and go with it.

And honestly? Those are some of my favorite sessions. Because real life isn’t perfectly posed or perfectly behaved. Sometimes the dog jumps in the water. Sometimes the kids run off. Sometimes everyone ends up laughing when things don’t go according to plan.

And those unexpected moments often become the stories you remember most.

I’m pretty sure this family will never look at this photo without remembering what happened immediately afterward.

Magic Monday | The Art Behind The Image

There is so much more that goes into a finished photograph than pressing the shutter button.

This image is a perfect example.
The connection between Bianca and her horse was already there. The moment was genuine, the emotion was beautiful, and the way they were looking at each other was something I knew I wanted to preserve.

But the sky?

Well... the camera didn’t quite capture what my eyes were seeing.
The original image had a pretty lackluster sky that didn’t really add anything to the story of the moment. So during the editing process, I enhanced the sunset to create a sky that better reflected the warmth and feeling of what was happening right in front of me.

That’s one of my favorite parts of the art of photography.

Editing isn’t about changing the moment or making something fake. It’s about using light, color, composition and atmosphere to help bring the feeling of that moment back to life.

The photograph was already beautiful because of them.
The editing simply helped the image tell the story the way I remembered experiencing it.

A little favor from my amazing photography family…

Over the years, I’ve had the absolute honor of photographing so many incredible moments — graduating seniors stepping into their next chapter, families growing and changing, couples celebrating love, milestones, and all the little in-between moments that become the memories we treasure most.

One of my favorite parts of this journey has been the people I’ve met along the way. Many of you have welcomed me into some of the most special seasons of your lives, and I’m so grateful that you trusted me with those memories.

There’s just something so timeless about black & white.

The emotion feels deeper, the little moments feel softer, and somehow the details tell the story in an entirely different way. ✨

So much heart was poured into every part of this day — every little detail was thoughtful, intentional, and so perfectly them. From the center pieces created with the bride's favorite Tequila bottles to the custom interlocking heart sculpture gifted by the groom's parents to the absolutely divine custom bourbon-maple frosted cupcakes crafted by Rachel Frakes with MF Cakes, everything reflected their love story so beautifully.

I absolutely love getting to slow down and capture these pieces of the day — the details that took months of dreaming and planning, and the moments that will forever be part of their beginning.

Happy Mother’s Day to all of the incredible moms I’ve been blessed to photograph throughout the years.

From brand new mamas holding their babies for the very first time, to moms chasing toddlers, hugging teenagers, gathering generations together, and loving their families through every season — it has been such an honor to witness and capture so many beautiful moments. I never take for granted the trust you place in me to document the people and memories that matter most.

Some of my favorite photos are the ones filled with the quiet, everyday kind of love — the snuggles, the laughter, the hand-holding, and the way little ones look at their mom.

So often, moms are the ones behind the camera, making sure everyone else’s memories are captured while rarely stepping into the frame themselves. These photos become more meaningful with every passing year — not because everything was perfect, but because they tell the story of this season exactly as it is.

This Mother’s Day, take the time to be in the photos, too. The moments don’t have to be big or perfectly planned to matter.

Between the letterman jacket, lacrosse gear, and the golden light around every corner, this session felt like such a great snapshot of senior year and everything that comes with it — hard work, memories, friendships, and the excitement of what’s next.

These last weeks before graduation always seem to fly by, which is exactly why I love documenting this season so much.

Prom night x2

There’s something so special about photographing twins—built-in best friends, always. The way you show up for each other, laugh together, and somehow balance gorgeous and completely goofy in the best way… it’s just magic.

I had so much fun capturing these images—between the stunning portraits and the moments that had us all laughing, it was such a perfect reflection of who you both are.

Prom is such a big milestone, but getting to share it side by side makes it that much sweeter. I’m so honored I got to capture these memories for you both.
