Stevi3 Photography

Stevi3 Photography Photographer, Husband, Dad from San Antonio trying to figure out where he fits in the world in his Stage 3, Colon Cancer Free, Now in Remission WORLD.

My name is Steven Alvarez. I am a San Antonio based photographer, husband, father to a teenage daughter with autism and probably the only 3-fingered photographer who is sometimes known as "Stevi3."

As a child, I remember being fascinated by my father's old camera hiding in his closet. The feel of it in my hands. The fear knowing that I wasn't supposed to touch it. That moment still resonates

with me every time I lift a camera. Truth be told, being a photographer was not always my goal. I dreamt of being an architect. Sometimes life surprises you in the most unexpected ways.

I was 20 years old when my life changed forever. An accident led to the partial-amputation of 2 fingers on my dominate hand. This was devastating, my world centered around the ability to draw. 6 months later, I began this wonderful journey into the world of photography the day I started at Lifetouch National School Studios. At the time it was just a much needed job but to my surprise, I discovered the joy of capturing a moment. It amazes me how the hardest fight of my life led me down a path of fulfilment. There is no replacement for that warming feeling you get when a shy child smiles only to realize they weren't shy, they just didn't want to show their missing tooth. That gap in their smile is almost always accompanied by a story of how much the Tooth Fairy gave them and what they were going to buy with all the money! Nothing burns a hole in a child's pocket like Tooth Fairy money.

These are moments you can never get back...these are moments I never want you to have to miss. It took many years and much struggle but through pure will, determination and overwhelming support from my amazing wife, I am proud to say that I am the owner and photographer for Stevi3 Photography. This is my career, my life and my passion.

When your vision needs to be shown. Another reason photographers do not provide RAW files, in their nature they do not represent the world as it is seen....and neither to JPEGs straight out of the camera!

A RAW file fills the image sensor capture as many pixels of pure data as it can to be post-processed. It maintains the highest flexibility for photographers who know when and why to underexpose images.

A JPEG out of camera is a photo that is put through in camera processing. With each save, move, copy the file gets slightly compressed and has more potential for data loss.

People: I don't even see the point of National Parks. They just take up space. There's never even anything to see.

Me: Okay.

Get out, visit your parks. They are worth the time it takes to get to them.

This...is my happy place.

They say that there is a child in all of us. I think everyone who watched The Devil Wears Prada last night was able to set their inner child free. We were all that little kid, smiles and all.

I think I broke my toe in the pit though. More photo's to come.

Not of the toe. The concert.

Maybe of the toe.
