Stevi3 Photography

Stevi3 Photography Photographer (Landscape, Portrait, Personal) My name is Steven Alvarez. The feel of it in my hands. The fear knowing that I wasn't supposed to touch it.

I am a San Antonio based photographer, husband, father to a teenage daughter with autism and probably the only 3-fingered photographer who is sometimes known as "Stevi3."

As a child, I remember being fascinated by my father's old camera hiding in his closet. That moment still resonates with me every time I lift a camera. Truth be told, being a photographer was not always my goal. I dreamt of

being an architect. Sometimes life surprises you in the most unexpected ways.

I was 20 years old when my life changed forever. An accident led to the partial-amputation of 2 fingers on my dominate hand. This was devastating, my world centered around the ability to draw. 6 months later, I began this wonderful journey into the world of photography the day I started at Lifetouch National School Studios. At the time it was just a much needed job but to my surprise, I discovered the joy of capturing a moment. It amazes me how the hardest fight of my life led me down a path of fulfilment. There is no replacement for that warming feeling you get when a shy child smiles only to realize they weren't shy, they just didn't want to show their missing tooth. That gap in their smile is almost always accompanied by a story of how much the Tooth Fairy gave them and what they were going to buy with all the money! Nothing burns a hole in a child's pocket like Tooth Fairy money.

These are moments you can never get back...these are moments I never want you to have to miss. It took many years and much struggle but through pure will, determination and overwhelming support from my amazing wife, I am proud to say that I am the owner and photographer for Stevi3 Photography. This is my career, my life and my passion.

Me: Okay.

Get out, visit your parks. They are worth the time it takes to get to them.

This...is my happy place.

They say that there is a child in all of us. I think everyone who watched The Devil Wears Prada last night was able to set their inner child free. We were all that little kid, smiles and all.

I think I broke my toe in the pit though. More photo's to come.

Not of the toe. The concert.

Maybe of the toe.

Who else is ready for Halloween this Friday?
I am not much of a "holiday" person if you will but I do enjoy this time of year the most.
In honor of that I am sharing my favorite photos from Disney World's The Haunted Mansion from my POV back in June.

I still have a lot of photographs to share but right now my health is taking priority over editing.

Enjoy the haunts, the photos and most of all, stay safe this Halloween week! 👻

No Kings Day - San Antonio 2025-10-18

People of many opposing ethnicities, ideologies, faiths and backgrounds joined together to honor our First Amendment rights.

I personally believe we all joined peacefully to stand in solidarity with all those who have been so grossly affected by many recent rulings and orders.

I love having the right to take these photos.

I am one of the many fortunate that I had the opportunity to see the great Dolores Huerta speak in Austin fighting against the mid-census gerrymandering by Trump and Abbott.

I ended up towards the front of the rally and I was able to get some of great close-ups of the rally speakers and performers. I do believe I missed on speaker due to needing to add some funds to the parking meter but was able to get a wide shot of the 5,000 attendees.

My posts have been very sparse lately. I have been recovering from back surgery in December. As my body continues down this recovery path I will post more about the Stevi3 experience with both my views and thoughts on the subject matter.

For now here are a few photographs from seeing Deftones at Moody Center ATX taken with my newish to me Canon Powershot G10.

And of course, my lunar eclipse submission using my also new to me Tamron 100-400 lens on my Nikon D750!

Now...SLEEP! :)

Hello photo world,

It has been a while and man oh man, a lot has happened. Yes, I am still alive which is probably the best news of all! Since my last update I have done two more doses of chemotherapy. My last dose, dose 12, will be on Monday. I have not gotten out a lot to photograph....the heat just does a number on my body. Fortunately, I was feeling good enough last month to do an impromptu photo walk after I dropped my wife and daughter to see Frozen the musical.

I gradually have figured out what my style of photography is...and I am really starting to love the adventures that street photography can bring. You have to use all your senses some times. I was about to call it a night but my ears picked up the unmistakable sound of a skateboard. After a few minutes I tracked down the sound and I gotta give it up to him. He was exhausted but threw down a few more runs just so I can get some shots of him!

I hope you all enjoy these as much as I do/did. Just counting down until I can post on a more regular basis.

Til next time!
