I just signed a contract to publish The Texas Courthouse Renaissance. I have wanted to do this for decades but this year is the 25th anniversary of the Texas Historic County Courthouse Restoration Program so I felt compelled to celebrate its success in my own way.

It will be published in late June and will be a 12"x12" hardbound coffee table book, 366 pages, 127 handcolored photographs with all the completed restorations and numerous others of my favorite courthouses. It will also include narratives and tales.

Message me for details. Here is a facsimile of the front cover dust jacket.

This is a rare capture, the day of the solstice, 2017. Why is this so special? The courthouse faces North. The sun shines on the facade only at certain hours a few days before or after the summer solstice.

It is a 1/1 edition for purchase by one special collector, printed and handcolored on canvas mounted on 22x30 masonite. The frame is a beautiful sienna 4 1/2 inch wide wooden frame.

Message me for details.

Returned from Dallas yesterday. David and I traveled there to meet with the senior archivist at the Bush Library and as a result are moving forward with plans for my website and a book celebrating the restorations of Texas historic courthouses which have been accomplished to date through the Preservation Program enacted while George W. Bush was governor. More news as developments warrant

Two years ago this week I met with two archivists at the George W. Bush Presidential Center to discuss the preservation of these works. Shortly after the opening of the Center in May 2013, I got the following letter.

Then Governor Bush led the effort to create the Texas Courthouse Preservation Program to preserve and restore these beauties, a great piece of legislation!

This Album is dedicated to the Historic Courthouse Preservation Program which is part of the Texas Historical Commission. After the National Trust for Historic Preservation named Texas courthouses among the nation's ten most endangered properties, then Governor George W. Bush proposed this preservation and restoration program which involves local initiatives, state and federal assistance, and to date approximately seventy-five courthouses, many still functioning as the county courthouse, others as other historic functions, have been recommissioned. Every two years the legislature must approve new funds, so I felt I wanted to use these articles to help publicize the program through the Texas Bar Journal.

This album features restored courthouses taken for three more photo essays which appeared in the TBar Journal, in 2005, 2012 and 2014. The first 14 featured a departure , with a sepia background, and were in the May 2005 issue. This collection was acquired by a Fort Worth Law Firm.

The second group of nine was featured in the April 2012 issue of the Texas Bar Journal.

The final group of eight, among twenty restorations shot on a trip I took last March, was featured in the May issue of this year's Bar Journal. The rest have yet to be printed and handcolored.

This is a second collection of courthouses intended for a book that has never been published. It includes some of the same photos as in the first collection plus most of the restorations done between 1998 and 2005. None of these has been sold

As the dates indicate, this album was done 2 decades ago. Six of the first twelve I did appeared in the Texas Bar Journal in February, 1994. They proved popular and I created individual prints for clients enabling me to travel throughout the state during the following five months and eventually created a collection of 180 different courthouses. These are the original artist proofs of most of them and they have been accepted to enter the Bush Presidential Center's archives in Dallas.
